2021 Land Rover Discovery now available in PH
MANILA: All British Cars Inc. (ABC), the exclusive distributor of Land Rover vehicles in the Philippines, has officially rolled out the 2021 Discovery.
The new Discovery combines remarkable design with a functional interior to represent the spirit of family adventure which has characterized Land Rover’s premium family SUV for more than three decades. Its latest generation remains to be one of the most efficient, connected, and versatile seven-seat premium SUVs in the world.
In a statement, Jaguar Land Rover Chief Creative Officer Gerry McGovern said, “The new Discovery is a beautifully proportioned and sophisticated premium SUV. This compelling and versatile vehicle has been refined in every detail, enhancing its characterful exterior and hugely versatile interior to ensure the Discovery maintains its position as the most capable and family-friendly full-size SUV in the world.”
The new Discovery features a bold exterior that exudes a more confident road presence. It comes with a revised front bumper, new signature LED headlights with a daytime running light, new side vents, and a new gloss black panel on the rear.
The Discovery’s spacious cabin features a full-size seven-seat layout. The redesigned center console houses an 11.4-inch, full HD touchscreen that provides a fast and intuitive interface for the vehicle’s advanced Pivi Pro infotainment system. It comes with logical menus that allow the most commonly used functions to be accessed directly from the home screen to minimize driver distraction. The vehicle’s infotainment system can also be connected to a smartphone through Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. It also comes with advanced Bluetooth technology that allows two smartphones to be connected to the vehicle simultaneously.
The new Discovery also comes with a versatile and intelligent interior, similar to the model’s previous versions. Even with the seven seats in use, the boot provides 172 liters of luggage space. It also comes with six USB ports and three power sockets so all occupants will have somewhere to charge their electronic devices. The second-row seats were also redesigned with improved lateral support, thicker cushions, and careful seat profiling to provide greater under-thigh support and improved posture.
The new Discovery is powered by the latest generation of the straight-six Ingenium engine which features 48V mild hybrid electric vehicle (MHEV) technology. This intelligent technology helps ensure that the new engines meet the most demanding global emissions standards and generate improved response.. It collects and stores the energy produced during deceleration, and redeploys it to support the engine when accelerating — providing six-cylinder performance and four-cylinder efficiency.
The standard electric air suspension on the new Discovery gives premium ride comfort in all conditions. It features automatic speed lowering to improve aerodynamic efficiency and enhance economy when driving on highways. The vehicle also uses adaptive dynamics damper technology to monitor vehicle movements up to 500 times a second and instantly adjust to driver or road inputs for greater body control and composed ride.
The terrain response technology also helps the new Discovery in automatically adapting to the driving condition, while the new Wade Mode optimizes the vehicle for deep water fording. The brakes are automatically applied once the driver disengages Wade Mode to bring back full performance from the initial application of the brakes.
Land Rover Vehicle Integrity Chief Engineer Mike Cross stated, “The new Discovery combines superb all-terrain suspension geometry with rewarding dynamics and excellent body control, while maintaining our family SUV’s famed ride quality and comfort. With a state-of-the-art suspension design, lightweight aluminum architecture and intelligent drivetrains we’ve retuned the car to deliver a seven-seat SUV that is hugely versatile, highly capable, incredibly refined, yet more engaging to drive.”
The new Discovery also uses the ClearSight Ground View technology to provide drivers with a view of the obscured ground beneath the front of the vehicle through the central touchscreen and forward-facing cameras.
Two new exterior color variants were added on the 2021 Discovery—Hakuba Silver and Lantau Bronze.
The 2021 Land Rover Discovery is now available for viewing at the ABC showroom in Greenhills and at the BGC Boutique showroom in Taguig. It is priced at P6.49 million.
