2023 Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid launched in US

MANILA: The 2023 Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid made its US premiere on Friday, April 7.

The 2023 Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid, which is offered with all-wheel drive (AWD), makes the most of the high-strength TNGA-C platform's inherent capabilities. This allows the 2023 Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid to deliver excellent performance, a smooth ride, and exceptional space. Furthermore, its unexpected cargo capacity provides the versatility to face any adventure.

The 2023 Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid provides more power and fuel efficiency thanks to the Fifth Generation Toyota Hybrid System under its hood and the Electronic AWD system. The 2023 Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid delivers 196 horsepower and a remarkable EPA-estimated 42 combined miles per gallon for all grades.

Three new grades  — S, SE, and XSE — will be offered for the 2023 Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid. The S and SE grades are equipped with 17-inch alloy wheels, an eight-inch touchscreen, a sport-tuned suspension, LED head and tail lamps, and smart key access. The SE grade also has roof rails, paddle shifters, privacy glass, Blind-Spot Monitor (BSM), and Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA) as standard features. The sportiest variant of the 2023 Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid, the XSE, expands upon the features of the SE and adds premium LED headlamps, tail lamps, and fog lamps; Softex-trimmed seats with heated front seats and a power driver's seat.

The 2023 Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid will come in four two-tone exterior color options for SE and XSE grades: Sonic Silver/Black Roof, Barcelona Red/Black Roof, Blue Crush Metallic/Black Roof, and Acidic Blast/Black Roof.

Monotone exterior color options include Wind Chill Pearl, Sonic Silver Metallic, Jet Black Mica, Barcelona Red Metallic, Cypress, and Blue Crush Metallic.

On the inside, the 2023 Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid comes standard with heating and air-conditioning vents for the rear passengers. Higher grades can be equipped with a power sunroof and either single- or dual-zone automatic climate control.

The S grade is designed with fabric-trimmed seats in Black/Gray, while the SE grade comes with fabric-trimmed seats in either Black/Gray or Black/Blue. The Softex-trimmed seats in the XSE may be finished in Black or Black/Blue.

The new Toyota Multimedia System is standard across all 2023 Toyota Corolla Cross grades. A wide array of upgraded connectivity and convenience features, including Over-the-Air (OTA) updates, can now be enjoyed by Corolla Cross drivers, thanks to the Toyota Audio Multimedia system built and engineered by Toyota's Texas-based Connected Technologies team. Users can interact with the system with simple touch and voice commands. Drivers and passengers get access to Intelligent Assistant, Cloud Navigation, and Destination Assist with the available Connected Service Drive Connect trial or subscription.

Intelligent Assistant can be activated by simply saying “Hey Toyota,” allowing voice commands to be used to adjust the cabin's temperature, identify Points of Interest (POI), search for directions, and more. The onboard navigation system, called Cloud Navigation, uses the cloud to obtain the latest map, traffic, and route information. The Google Points-of-Interest data is used to enable POI search, ensuring users have access to the latest search capabilities. Meanwhile, Destination Assist provides 24/7 live agent support to help locate the next destination.

Dual Bluetooth phone connectivity and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are supported by the new Toyota Audio Multimedia. The 2023 Toyota Corolla Cross has an available Wi-Fi Connect subscription, providing 4G connectivity for up to five devices. Wi-Fi Connect trial or subscription also enables the new Integrated Streaming feature, giving users the ability to connect their separate Apple Music and Amazon Music subscriptions to the vehicle for onboard control and enhancing the already extensive audio playback offering with HD Radio, USB data, and a three-month trial subscription to SiriusXM Platinum Plan.

All 2023 Toyota Corolla Cross models come standard with Toyota Safety Sense (TSS) 3.0, Toyota's suite of active safety technologies. This includes the Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection that can also recognize motorcycle riders in certain circumstances. The system is intended to detect forward or lateral approaching vehicles when making a turn or approaching an intersection, and in some cases, it will produce audio/visual alerts and enable automatic braking. Meanwhile, the performance of Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist and Lane Tracing Assist has been enhanced thanks to improved lane recognition.

Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC) will also be included in the 2023 Toyota Corolla Cross. The vehicle also comes with Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist which is designed to alert the driver through audio and visual alerts and slight steering force when it detects that the vehicle is leaving its lane without switching on its turn signal. When DRCC is activated, Lane Tracing Assist helps keep the vehicle centered in its lane based on visible lane markers or a vehicle in front.

The Automatic High Beams of the 2023 Toyota Corolla Cross automatically can switch between high-beam and low-beam headlights when they detect approaching or preceding vehicles. Road Sign Assist, on the other hand, is intended to recognize certain information on road signs and display it on the multi-information display (MID).

All 2023 Toyota Corolla Cross models are also equipped with a Back Seat Reminder system, which can note if a rear door was opened within 10 minutes of the vehicle being turned on, or at any time after the vehicle has been turned on, with a reminder message in the instrument cluster and multitone chimes after the engine is shut off.

Aside from the TSS 3.0 system, other safety features include Blind-Spot Monitor (BSM), which detects and warns the driver of vehicles approaching or positioned in the adjacent lanes; Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA), which helps detect vehicles approaching from either side while backing out and alerts the driver with a visual and audible warning; and Hill Start Assist Control (HAC).

The 2023 Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid will be manufactured at the Mazda Toyota Manufacturing plant in Alabama, USA.
