9th PIMS: MG PH previews HS PHEV

MANILA: Morris Garages (MG) Philippines has pulled the covers off the HS plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) at the 9th Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS). 

For now, MG’s local arm has yet to formally launch the aforementioned model. Still, it boasts plenty of attractive qualities that can make it a strong contender in the local PHEV crossover market segment. 

Its powertrain, for instance, can provide a Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicle Test Procedure-indicated range of 1,065 kilometers (km). Out of the said total range, the hybrid model can cover 100 km via its electric-only drive mode. 

It is also quite peppy, as MG says it can churn out a total of 321 horsepower and 570 Newton-meters of torque. 

The previewed model likewise comes with the MG Pilot, an extensive collection of advanced driver-assist systems, and a sizable 12.3-inch floating-screen display. It likewise has the potential to shape up as a practical daily driver due to its 441-liter trunk. Plus, the said space can be expanded to 1,291-liters with the second seats folded down. 

As mentioned above, MG has not set a launch date for the said model, but the brand says it will be joining its lineup soon. 

Nevertheless, event-goers can see the PHEV unit and other MG cars, such as the 3 hybrid hatchback, One crossover, and Cyberster all-electric roadster at the 2024 PEVS at the World Trade Center Pasay City until October 27, 2024.
