A baby Kona is coming soon
MANILA: Slated to be unveiled at the 2019 New York Auto Show, set to run from 19 to 29 April 2019, is a brand new crossover from the stable of Hyundai. Expected to be called “Styx”, the compact SUV will join the fleet of crossovers which already include the likes of Kona, Creta, Tucson, Santa Fe, and Palisade. With the arrival of the Styx, the total number of high-riding Hyundai cars will go up to six. The Hyundai Styx will be the smallest crossover offering from the brand. As the manufacturer has already disclosed that the Styx will be smaller than the Kona.
While the brand new crossover will be unveiled in North America, it has specifically been developed for developing countries around the world. To add more solidity to the fact, the Hyundai Styx has been spotted on several occasions in India.
The crossover was clothed with dark covers and camouflage while it was being tested on the Indian roads. With the US and the Indian automobile markets certain to get the Styx, we hope other regions like ours get their fair share of the new crossover as well.
Sources from India also mention that the car will be a sub-4 meter vehicle. Once the Styx hits the roads around the globe, Hyundai will have one of the largest crossover range across the world. It is being speculated that the Styx could be taking its design cues from the Carlino Concept that was showcased in 2016.
That's because the Carlino was also a sub-4 meter vehicle. However, we expect the crossover to feature Hyundai’s latest design language which puts LED DRLs on the edges of the hood and bigger headlamps on the bumper.
