All-new Audi A3 arrives in US

MANILA: Audi has officially released the all-new 2022 Audi A3 in dealerships across the United States. The car features many of the brand’s flagship technologies in a package that makes  Audi ownership easier for people who are new to the brand.

When the A3 nameplate made its US debut in 2005, it introduced the essence of Audi design, performance, craftsmanship, and innovation. Its innovative momentum continues through the 2022 model year, as the new A3 comes with the latest flagship technologies such as Audi’s MMI touch display infotainment with a standard 10.1-inch screen. Its upgraded interior also features a sporty driver-centric cockpit with a 12.1-inch Audi virtual cockpit, a head-up display, and top-view camera system.

The 2022 Audi A3 is powered by a 2.0-lter TFSI engine that churns out a maximum power output of 201hp and 221lb-ft of torque. It is the first A3 model to feature a standard 48-volt mild-hybrid (MHEV) system which allows it to automatically run with the engine temporarily shut off in many driving situations to improve fuel efficiency. Audi also offers a more powerful TFSI engine for the new A3. This engine generates 306hp and 295lb-ft of torque.

The A3 40 TFSI quattro has an EPA-estimated 28 mpg city/36 mpg highway/31 mpg combined, which is 24% higher versus the previous quattro model. Meanwhile, the 2022 A3 front wheel drive variant has a class-leading EPA-estimated 29mpg city/38mpg highway/32mpg combined, which is 2mpg higher versus the previous generation.

The all-new A3 features a wide stance and contemporary styling which are highlighted by the quattro blisters, RS-inspired honeycomb grille, and available Matrix-design LED headlamps. It also comes with driver assistance features such as lane departure warning, Audi cruise assist with lane guidance, and side assist with rear-cross traffic assist and park assist.

When the first-generation A3 was released in the US in 2005, it became one of the first modern premium compact cars. Its 2015 model year was also remarkable as it came with new technologies including the first in-vehicle LTE connectivity WiFi experience and became the first Audi model to use the MIB infotainment platform. The A3 was also the first Audi to introduce features such as integrated social networking applications and Picture Book Navigation. With its innovative features and high-powered performance, the vehicle bagged the World Car of the Year award in 2014.
