All-new Hyundai Elantra comes in gas and hybrid variants
MANILA: Bearing Hyundai’s new "Parametric Dynamics" design theme and a new coupe-like body, the all-new Hyundai Elantra debuts in a special event that was broadcast globally as citizens of the world struggle to maintain social distancing amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
The seventh-generation Elantra uses a new platform makes it lighter and has a longer wheelbase, wider stance, and a lower roofline. Three lines meeting at one point highlight the new design theme along with the parametric-jewel-pattern grille with turn signal indicators, the wide grill, the gem-like shapes on the body surface, and the H-taillights that create ta Hyundai flying H logo.
Two connected 10.25-inch displays make up the large interface in the cabin and both are angled to give the driver the best view. There’s a 64-color interior mood lighting and a highly redesigned layout that includes a cornering grab handle, low-placed inside handles, and a door center trim that’s set low like a coupe.

It offers both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and dual Bluetooth support, which means two devices can be paired at the same time.
Because of the longer wheelbase, it has 38 inches of rear legroom (best in class) and 40.6 inches of front headroom and 37.3 inches of rear headroom.
Seating position is lowered compared to its predecessor, which brings down the center of gravity to increase driving stability.
Steering has been improved by moving the gearbox position upward, while handling has been enhanced with a new suspension mounting structure.

The Elantra will also come, for the first time, with a hybrid powertrain. It will use a 1.6L GDI Atkinson-cycle four-cylinder engine complemented by a 32 kW electric motor powered by lithium-ion batteries. Total power output is 139hp and 265Nm of torque. Gearbox is a six-speed, dual-clutch transmission.
Its other power option is a naturally-aspirated 2.0L MPI Atkinson-cycle engine that sends 147hp and 179Nm of torque to Hyundai’s Intelligent Variable Transmission.
Safety features include Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist with Pedestrian Detection, Lane Keeping Assist, Lane Following Assist, High Beam Assist, and Driver Attention Warning.
A voice recognition feature will able be available to allow the driver to control various functions like the air-conditioning system.
An optional feature is the smartphone-based Hyundai Digital Key. It uses a dedicated mobile app, Near Field Communication (NFC) and Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) technology to allow a new Elantra to be unlocked, started and driven without a physical key via applicable Android smartphones. The Digital Key also allows secure sharing of virtual keys with family and friends.
