All-new Mitsubishi Xpander surpasses competitors in fuel efficiency test
MANILA: With the recent hike in diesel and petrol prices, fuel efficiency has become an important factor for every car buyer. Also, automobile companies are putting their best foot forward by offering cars delivering top-notch fuel efficiency figures.
In order to see which vehicle stands out in the fuel efficiency test in its respective segment, the Automobile Association of the Philippines (AAP) recently conducted an economy test run. In the SUV segment, the 2018 Mitsubishi Xpander turn out to be the most fuel efficient car.
Two excellent variants of Xpander - the GLX MT and GLS Sports AT, with four other competitive brand models, were simultaneously driven. The test run took place at the Tarlac-Pangasinan-La Union Expressway (TPLEX) and Subic Clark Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX). The methods and the parameters for test were sanctioned by the Fuel Economy Drive by the Department of Energy.
The AAP, representative Mr Francisco F. Reyes, Jr., himself supervised and monitored the entire run activity, ensuring the authenticity and fairness of test.
Among the six vehicles that ran at an average distance of 236.58 km, the Xpander variants managed to clinch and hence became the showstoppers. The Xpander GLX MT recorded a remarkable fuel consumption of 21.01 kmpl while the Xpander GLS Sport AT impressively displayed 22.94 kmpl in the test run. The models falling at the third and fourth position secured a fuel economy rating of 19.8 kmpl and 17.4 kmpl respectively.
These two Mitsubishi Xpander variants successfully beat out the other six cars including the diesel models, both in the area of performance and fuel efficiency.
Not only in fuel efficiency test, the Mitsubishi Xpander scored equally well in the NCAP test where it got a 4-star safety rating. For reference, the Xpander would soon be available for sale, and is powered by a 1.5-litre 4A91 engine that seamlessly produces 105 PS of maximum power and 141 Nm of peak torque. Those interested in the new Xpander may visit Mitsubishi dealerships nationwide.
