MANILA: The BYD Sealion 6 DM-i has received a five-star safety rating from the Australasian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP).

The vehicle wears a P1.548 million-price tag.In a statement, the organization shared that the vehicle, which arrived in Australia and New Zealand earlier this year, demonstrated a “solid all-round safety performance.”
The vehicle safety-focused group shared that the BYD Sealion 6 DM-i received these scores in the following categories:
- Adult occupation protection: 88 percent (35.51 out of 40 points)
- Child occupation protection: 86 percent (45.52 out of 49)
- Vulnerable road users: 83 percent (52.59 out of 63)
- Safety assist: 75 percent (13.64 out of 18)
Helping the BYD model achieve such scores are the autonomous emergency braking (AEB) system capable of detecting and reacting to vulnerable road users such as pedestrians, cyclists and motorcyclists.
“The Sealion 6 is fitted with a cyclist anti-dooring system that provides information if a bicycle is approaching from the rear, however the information was not sufficiently early to be awarded points for this function,” ANCAP noted.
ANCAP Chief Executive Officer Carla Hoorweg lauded BYD as it continues to offer “high levels of safety to its customers.”
To note, the BYD Sealion 6 DM-i was brought to the country last July. It comes with DiPilot driver assistive amenities made up of a 360-degree camera with see-through mode, six-radar sensor setup, adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, lane departure assist, automatic emergency braking, front collision warning, traffic congestion assistance, and traffic sign recognition.
Aside from that, the vehicle also has traction control system, electronic stability control, anti-lock braking system with electronic brakeforce distribution and comfort braking function, as well as the electronic anti-theft system.
The Philippine-spec BYD Sealion 6 DM-I is priced at P1.548 million.
