Auto Expo 2020: Kia displays the Seltos X-Line Concept

MANILA: Ever since its inception, Kia Seltos has managed to make it to the headlines more often than not. On top of that, the compact SUV by the South Korean automaker has also been successful in derailing various popular competitors from the top of the sales charts in markets where it has been launched. Building on the success of its compact SUV, Kia showcased Seltos X-Line concepts at the 2019 L.A. Auto Show, where the adventure-ready editions of the SUV grabbed much attention.

Speaking of the Kia Seltos X-Line concept displayed at the 2019 L.A. Auto Show, the SUVs housed a 1.6-litre turbo-petrol engine generating 177 PS of maximum power and a peak torque of 264 Nm. Then there was a 7-speed DCT automatic that worked in tandem with an AWD system. As for other adventure-dedicated equipment, the Kia Seltos X-Line concepts displayed at the 2019 L.A. Auto Show flaunted rugged front & rear bumpers, roof rack with rally lights, front bumper mounted rally lights, customised alloy wheels with off-road tyres, front-mounted winch, and increased ground clearance.

The Kia Seltos X-Line concept that has made way to the Auto Expo 2020, however, features a lot less rugged equipment as compared to the X-Line concepts displayed at the 2019 L.A. Auto Show. For the Indian masses, the compact SUV features rugged front and rear bumpers with skid plates. On the mechanical front, the Indian-spec Kia Seltos gets a 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol-fed engine churning out 140 PS of maximum power and a peak torque of 242 Nm as the most powerful option in the lineup. Even though it is certain for Kia to offer an off-road dedicated variant of the Seltos in India, the South Korean automaker might just offer some adventure-ready accessories in the market. And, we won't mind those coming over to the Philippines as well, would we?

In the Indian market, the Kia Seltos locks horns with various other SUVs such as the Nissan Kicks, Tata Harrier, MG Hector, Hyundai Creta, and Renault Captur.
