KEY TAKEAWAYS
How much horsepower and torque can Bentley’s “Ultra Performance Hybrid” produce?
Bentley’s “Ultra Performance Hybrid” can produce up to 771 horsepower and 1,000 Newton-meters of torque. What kind of vehicle is the Bentley Flying Spur?
The Bentley Flying Spur is a full-size luxury four-door sedan. The Crewe-based luxury auto brand shared the aforementioned after commemorating the end of production of its venerable W12 engine. The said hybrid mill is the same one used by the all-new Continental GT Speed, which debuted at the 2024 Goodwood Festival of Speed.
According to the carmaker, the new powerplant can produce up to 771 horsepower (hp) and 1,000 Newton-meters (Nm) of torque. The said output was achievable thanks to the combination of a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 and a compact but powerful electric motor.
In addition, the new Flying Spur equipped with Bentley’s eight-cylinder hybrid engine will benefit from reduced carbon dioxide emissions and an all-electric range of at least 72 kilometers. It will also elevate the next-gen model to become the most powerful four-door vehicle in the marque’s 105-year history.
With regards to how the vehicle looks, the shared teaser image shows plenty of similarities with the current model, with its boxy mesh grille and crystal-style quad headlamps retained. The trim pieces situated on its lower front bumper, however, do bear some differences, which lean more towards elegant lines and curves.
For now, the British auto company has yet to reveal an exact release date for the new Flying Spur, although it disclosed that more details for the forthcoming model will eventually be released.
In the Philippines, PGA Cars, the licensed local distributor of Bentley, currently offers the Flying Spur in three versions. Available is a six-cylinder hybrid version, a V8 variant, and the W12-powered trim.
The most powerful of the locally available Flying Spur variants is the W12, which can generate up to 626 hp and 900 Nm of torque.
