Bentley unveils 4 special models for 20th anniversary in China

MANILA: Bentley Mulliner has developed a unique collection of new Bentleys to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the British automaker's presence in China. The four special models were each inspired by a well-known London landmark, where WO Bentley established Bentley Motors in 1919.

The four families of vehicles in the collection are the Continental GT, Continental GTC, Flying Spur, and Bentayga, each numbered as one of 20 to signify exclusivity. Mulliner has applied careful attention and precise handcraftsmanship to produce each vehicle.

The four models — The Guard, The Carnaby, The Pall Mall, and The Savile Row — introduce exclusive embroideries, Mulliner features, and design cues that distinguish the vehicles and honor their timelessly famous London muses. Mulliner is expected to individually handcraft 20 vehicles in each family, all of which are going to Chinese customers.

The Guard, the first vehicle in the collection, was created as a tribute to the illustrious Royal Guards who protect the Royal Family. The Guards' red tunics and 18-inch black bearskin caps are recreated in St. James Red iridescent paint with a Beluga roof. The bodywork is matched with 21-inch 10-spoke wheels that are painted black but have a bright machined finish, along with a carbon fiber Styling Specification body kit that is also painted in Beluga but has a Moonbeam pinstripe on it. The front wings are adorned with subtle black “The Guard” exterior badge designating the vehicle as one of 20.

Beluga lambswool carpets in the cabin complete the bespoke three-tone color scheme of Linen, Beluga, and Hotspur. Mulliner's ability to paint wood veneer to complement any interior hide or exterior paint color is demonstrated by the veneers, which are finished in Piano Hotspur over Piano Black and match the leather. The final accents of color are provided by contrast stitching and piping.

The Bang & Olufsen speakers are finished in matching black and gold, and the gold tunic buttons of the Guards' uniform are represented by gold organ stops that control the cabin's heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning system. The Guard graphics can be seen on the embroidered headrests, the passenger fascia overlay, and the bespoke treadplates.

The Carnaby, named after Carnaby Street in London's Soho district, is the Convertible model in the line. A Bentley that is just as brilliant as Carnaby Street, which is known for its lively ambiance and vibrant colors, is offered in four different colors: Radium, Jetstream II, Orange Flame, and Onyx. The Arctica pinstripe matches the accent on the 22-inch wheels, which are first painted black and then given a solid white Arctica finish. The front wings are embellished with Carnaby badges.

The Beluga leather interior features bespoke Radium hide accents and matching Silver and Radium contrast stitching. It also features a colorful diamond motif set into the passenger fascia that symbolizes the four colors in the family.

The center console is made of new dark tint diamond brushed aluminum, and the embroidery uses the same diamond motif as the fascia, but in a four-color scheme that makes the exterior color stand out more.

The Pall Mall Flying Spur is a tribute to the State Limousine. It features bespoke duo-tone Beluga over Claret paint and 22-inch 10-spoke wheels with a claret-painted and bright-machined finish. The majestic exterior is finished with exterior bright chromework and a “The Pall Mall” insignia on the C-pillar.

The front seats in the four-seat cabin are in Imperial Blue, while the rear seats are in Baroda Blue, a bespoke hide color that is color-matched to the hide in the State Limousine. The two rear seats are separated by a full-length center console. For a stunning mix of pattern and texture, the veneer uses one wood species with two different finishes: Open Pore Burr Walnut over High Gloss Burr Walnut. Burr Walnut is used to finish the rear doors, while Piano Baroda Blue is used to finish the backs of the front seats, which contain picnic tables.

Bespoke seat piping in Imperial Blue contrasts with pale gold micro-piping that is used as the cabin's finishing touch. The rear seats have loose leather-trimmed cushions, and the seats themselves are embroidered with a bespoke crown motif. The passenger fascia, the center rear console, and the rear door panels all feature an additional gold veneer overlay with the crown motif.

The Savile Row, a Bentayga that draws inspiration from the legendary home of tailoring, is the collection's last vehicle. Traditional tailoring materials are given a contemporary touch with a style that honors the Savile Row artisans.

Clean Cumbrian Green bodywork is paired with 22-inch 10-spoke wheels that are painted in the same color as the bodywork and have a bright machined finish. A gorgeous bespoke color split in Cumbrian Green and Portland hides is used within the four-seat cabin with rear center console, along with carefully picked sections of contrast stitching. Mulliner's “Serenity” seat quilting on the seats, doors, and backboard is matched by the first use of High Gloss Burr Elm veneer in a modern Bentley on the fascias, center consoles, and door waistrails.

The special model is also distinguished by an overlay in the passenger fascia, bespoke treadplates, and exterior badging to the D pillar.

The 80 vehicles in this special collection will only be available in China over the next months, with the first models making their global debut there soon. The demand for these unique examples of Mulliner's outstanding design and artistic handcrafting abilities is already very high.
