BMW AirTouch: Gestures now Controlling your Car
MANILA: AirTouch from the house of BMW is all set to rule the 2016 Consumer Electronic Show (CES). If not of the entire, it will surely be the star of the auto section at the CES that will be accompanied by some heavy technologies in the area of connected cars. Another German auto manufacturer that is eager to make its spot at the 2016 CES is Volkswagen, trying to attract viewers with its EV.
Though, VW with its new EV is trying to work on an image makeover and wants to shift consumers’ attention from the recent diesel gate scandal to its R&D ability. But for BMW, it seems to be a race ahead of times, where it wants to surpass others and bring in technology that we have only seen in sci-fi movies.
Gesture controlling is what BMW is working on for past years now and it will surely transform your driving experience. BMW AirTouch is what this new technology called and is an extension over its Gesture Control system that we earlier saw in BMW 7 Series. Now it may seem similar to the Gesture Control system but is actually different in many ways.
- Firstly, the AirTouch can be used both by the driver and passengers
- Secondly, unlike the BMW Gesture Control, AirTouch will be accompanied by buttons to ensure physical conformation
- Thirdly, the AirTouch will not be limited to 7 Series models, unlike the BMW Gesture Control
Also, BMW says that it's a big leap forward and with this new tech, it is trying to reduce the time frame to carry a particular function. As the predecessor to BMW Gesture Control, it works with the help of screen sensors present all over and controls functions like phone connectivity, navigation, entertainment and much more.
So, get ready to see some astonishing developments at the soon to start 2016 Consumer Electronic Show. The said show will run from 6th to 9th January in Las Vegas and holds in kit some amazing techs ranging from the field of Virtual Reality, Connected Cars, Robots and even Fashion Wearable.
