Cadillac 2021 Escalade teases a massive 38-inch curved OLED display
MANILA: Cadillac a division of General Motors (GM) likes making it big. Case in point, their new 2021 Escalade with a matching gigantic monitor.
In its press release, Cadillac attached a promotional video clip teasing the much-anticipated curved OLED display that will take almost all the expanse of the dashboard. The elongated display measures over 38 inches in length and will have twice the pixel density of a 4K Ultra HD television.
This means the instrument cluster and infotainment of the new Escalade will have the sharpest imagery, perfect black, and the most varied color range available in the automotive industry. Though the teaser video covers the dashboard with a black cloth, we’re assuming that it will somehow have similarities with the instrument cluster of the Cadillac Escala concept which was revealed during the 2016 Monterey Car Week.
Escalade is one of the best performing vehicles of Cadillac and number one in its segment of full-size luxury SUV. Steve Carlisle, Cadillac president said, “From the highway to the big screen, the Escalade has been embraced by drivers and fans around the world.”
Despite keeping mum on what customers can expect and see from the high-tech dashboard, we can only assume that it will be a modern upgrade to the traditional car dashboard and can be based on the company’s existing technology.
The current model of the Escalade already has a version of Super Cruise which allows for hands-free, semi-autonomous driving on highways and is located at the top of the steering wheel and seen as a green LED status bar. The same is visible in the promotional video so the new Escalade could come with a version of the Super Cruise too.
The new 2021 Escalade will be patterned on the SUV car version of the body-on-frame platform similarly found in Chevrolet Tahoe and Chevrolet Suburban. Expect it also to come with air suspension with magnetic dampers and an independent rear which is expected from luxury vehicles for the optimum riding comfort.
Global debut for the new Cadillac 2021 Escalade is set for February 4, 2020, in Los Angeles just in time for the Oscars week and will roll into dealerships on the latter part of the year.
