Check out the specs of the just-launched 2021 Subaru Outback, priced at P2.38-M
MANILA: Motor Image Pilipinas, Inc., the exclusive distributor of Subaru vehicles in the country, has officially launched the all-new 2021 Subaru Outback. The crossover features a redesigned interior and exterior, and is powered by an all-new 2.5-liter direct injection boxer engine.
The 2021 Outback is engineered with the Subaru Global Platform and features the latest driver assist safety system.
In a statement, Tan Chong International Ltd. Deputy Chairman and Managing Director Glenn Tan said, “This car is really about giving you a refined, premium driving experience in a feature-packed model at an unbeatable price for you to go create your best memories with your loved ones. Fans of the Outback will know that it is reliable and always there for you, taking you on your best journeys, time after time. It has the latest best-in-class safety features and spaciousness usually found in luxury European brands. It will keep you and your loved ones safe and comfortable. It is stable, versatile, and practical, with a touch of luxury. It is a well-equipped high-end car, without the high-end price tag.”

Along with the launch of the all-new Outback, Subaru also introduced the latest version of EyeSight, the brand’s award-winning preventive safety system, to the local market. EyeSight 4.0’s pre-collision braking features improved stereo cameras and wider angle of coverage. It can now help the driver look left and right to detect obstructions and prevent possible collisions at intersections. The new stereo cameras also help the system detect nearby lanes as well so it can foresee if a vehicle beside is going to move into the Outback’s lane.
EyeSight 4.0 Driver Assist Technology also includes autonomous emergency steering, which helps the driver steer the Outback away from another vehicle or obstruction in front to avoid an accident. Together with the rear vehicle detection, this feature ensures that the Outback heads toward a clear area.
The EyeSight 4.0’s adaptive cruise control (ACC) system also comes with a lane centering function that helps the driver steer the Outback to keep it in the middle of the lane. The ACC now also helps the driver in keeping the vehicle at a safe distance from the vehicle in front by automatically slowing down or speeding up.
Another upgraded EyeSight feature is the lane departure warning, which now comes with lane departure prevention. When the system detects that the driver is about to cross the lane markings while traveling at 60 kph or more, it nudges the steering wheel slightly towards the inside of the lane.
The Outback also comes with the EyeSight Assist Monitor that provides visual warnings on the windshield to make the driver aware of possible road hazards.
The crossover also comes with a driver monitoring system (DMS) that uses an infrared camera and facial recognition technology to monitor the driver’s eyes and alert the driver when they are looking away from the road when driving. The system also allows up to five drivers to save the unique settings for their seat, door mirror positions, climate control, and meter displays.
Other safety features on the all-new Outback include eight airbags, steering responsive headlights, adaptive driving beam, blind-spot detection, lane change assist, rear cross traffic alert, and reverse automatic braking.
The Outback gets a full inner frame structure and symmetrical all-wheel drive that help the vehicle deliver superb handling and stability. Its 2.5-liter direct injection boxer engine churns out 188ps and 245Nm of torque, allowing the vehicle to accelerate from a standstill to 100kph in 9.6 seconds.
The crossover has an ample ground clearance of 213mm, and is designed with well-made bumper guards, heavy-duty crossbar roof rails, and durable body claddings to achieve a rugged look. It also comes with a 537-liter luggage compartment and a hands-free power rear gate.
The cabin can accommodate up to five adults. It is the first Subaru model to be equipped with Nappa leather seats with extra plush cushioning and premium trim.
The Outback is equipped with an 11.6-inch high-definition, tablet-style LCD infotainment touchscreen which is compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It also comes with a 576-watt Harman/Kardon premium audio system with 11 speakers, a subwoofer, and an eight-channel amplifier.
“The all-new Subaru Outback is totally comfortable on the road and naturally capable off it. Whether you want to live it up in the city or get active and dirty as part of an outdoorsy lifestyle, it is sure to help create memorable journeys for you and your loved ones,” Subaru Philippines said in a statement.
The all-new Subaru Outback is priced at P2.38 million. It comes in seven color variants: Crystal White Pearl, Ice Silver Metallic, Crystal Black Silica, Brilliant Bronze Metallic, Crimson Red Pearl, Dark Blue Pearl, and Storm Grey Metallic.
Subaru offers an exclusive P50,000 introductory discount to all customers who reserve an Outback unit by September 30. The first batch of Outback buyers will also receive a limited-edition Bynd Artisan leather pouch.
