Diesel power lives on with Indian-market 2023 Toyota Innova Crysta

MANILA: The third-generation Toyota Innova represents a major, ground-breaking advancement for the well-liked MPV. In addition to switching from a body-on-frame to a unibody chassis, it also abandoned the diesel in favor of a hybrid. There is still a considerable demand for the diesel engine, despite the hybrid powertrain taking the Innova one step closer to environmentally- friendly transportation.

Toyota India revealed that it is reintroducing the second-generation Innova with a diesel, suggesting that the business is aware of this. Also, the business somewhat updated the MPV to go along with the relaunch. Alongside the brand-new Innova, Toyota India will continue to sell and build the previous model. As a result, the truck-based Innova will target more conventional, or those who prefer diesel, customers, while the contemporary, unibody Innova will target purchasers receptive to the idea of hybrids.

2023 Toyota Innova Crysta Updates

The Innova, known as the Innova Crysta in India, receives a revised front bumper with sharper corners for 2023. Moreover, it has a new grille that is similar to the Hilux and a restyled front lip. New wheel options, at least for higher-spec models, round out the improvements.

This Innova will serve both the diesel crowd and fleets in need of a heavy-duty MPV in addition to the diesel population. It explains why the second-generation Innova won't have an automatic transmission option in India when it is relaunched. The 2.8-liter engine is also not used in the Innova diesel built for India. Instead, it has a 2.4-liter engine that likewise drives the Hilux models with two wheels.
