Eco-friendly Hyundai vehicles to join World Cup’s transportation fleet
MANILA: As an official sponsor of FIFA World Cup 2022, Hyundai Motor Company will provide eco-friendly vehicles for 50% of the event's transportation. FIFA World Cup 2022 will happen in Qatar from November 20 to December 18.

Hyundai Ioniq 5, Hyundai Sonata HEV, Hyundai Tucson HEV, Hyundai Kona HEV, Genesis G80 EV, and Genesis GV70 EV will be used to transport FIFA VIPs and staff.
Roadside charging services will be provided to recharge battery electric vehicles using the Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) technology on two Ioniq 5 units. FIFA will also provide 100kW to 150kW electric vehicle chargers at the event’s parking facilities.
Hyundai will monitor the fleet vehicles real time for any breakage and provide prompt service response, such as emergency dispatch, troubleshooting, and vehicle inspection.
A team from HMC Headquarters Service, Sub-Middle East Regional Service, and Sub-Middle East Regional Quality Center will be deployed at a Quality Situation Room in the parking facilities for smooth service throughout the event period. The service infrastructure of the Qatar dealership will be used for vehicle repair.
Hyundai is facilitating a training program about its electric vehicles for all drivers involved in the fleet operation for FIFA World Cup 2022.
Last April, Hyundai launched the Goal of the Century (GOTC) World Cup campaign with the slogan “A United World for Sustainability,” promoting carbon neutrality for the World Cup and football fans.
Hyundai formed Team Century, a group of campaign ambassadors who establish goals for sustainable development in their field of expertise. The team is led by former England national football player Steven Gerrard. Other members include Hyundai’s global brand ambassador BTS, Afghan refugee football player and Denmark UNESCO ambassador Nadia Nadim, American fashion designer Jeremy Scott, Italian sculptor Lorenzo Quinn, documentary photographer Nicky Woo, and Boston Dynamics robot Spot.
Last Thursday, Hyundai launched its “Goal of the Century” video featuring the members of Team Century at Piccadilly Circus in London.
