'Feature-packed, competitively priced' BMW 520i now here

MANILA: The revamped BMW 5 Series is now available here.

Coming solely in 520i Luxury guise, the vehicle is priced at P4.29 million. With features "usually found only in the higher tiers of the luxury car market," the 520i is "immensely competitive at its price point," President of local BMW distributor SMC Asia Car Distributor Corp. Spencer Yu said in a release. 

Entering the BMW 520i Luxury is made easier with the Comfort Access system. The Access feature helps in locking and unlocking the car's doors, and loading and unloading items into the trunk with its Kick Function.

With the 520i's Soft Close function, doors are assisted to close quietly.  

Inside, the cabin offers a premium and relaxing experience with Dakota Leather seats, which are coupled with the Ambient Lighting Package and Four-Zone Automatic Air-Conditioning. Open-pored fine wood interior trim and pearl chrome finisher complement the 5 Series interior. 

 

The driver fronts a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster Display.  For infotainment, occupants can use the BMW Live Cockpit Professional in Operating System 7.0 that comes with BMW Gesture Control.

Other premium 520i features include a 16-speaker Harmon Kardon surround system with connectivity options such as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The 520i Luxury wears its nameplate's styling updates. The BMW twin-kidney grille has been redesigned with extra width and height, and it drops down further into the front apron while being framed by a single-piece surround.

Meanwhile, the headlights have been slimmed down to bring a "modern twist to the focused look that stems from BMW’s heritage." These new headlights feature Adaptive LED, High-beam Assistant, and an adaptive cornering function for added safety at night.

At the rear of the 520i Luxury, black edging and a new L-shaped graphic give the tail lights "additional visual impact that emphasizes the sedan’s individuality."

Powering the 520i Luxury is a four-cylinder engine with the award-winning BMW TwinPower Turbo technology, which outputs 184hp and 290Nm of torque. The engine channels its power through an eight-speed Steptronic transmission.

Given the performance figures, the 520i is touted to complete the zero-to-100kph sprint in just 7.9 seconds. The engine’s peak torque is available over a broad rev range from 1,350 to 4,250 rpm, while its maximum output is ready between 5,000 to 6,500 rpm.

According to SMC Asia Car Corp., the BMW 520i Luxury comes with a comprehensive five-year warranty or 200,000 kilometers, whichever comes first.
