Ford launches the Ranger XLS Sport, starts at Php 1,062,000
MANILA: Just like SUVs and crossovers, pickup trucks are also gaining popularity and becoming the go-to vehicles for a much larger lot of the population. However, with automatic gearboxes replacing manual sticks rapidly, a lot of potential customers who prefer manual transmission are booted by the automakers. To address the issue and cater to the demands of purists in the country, Ford Philippines has just launched the Ranger XLS Sport. Not only the Ford Ranger XLS Sport gets a manual transmission with 4x4 drive capabilities but is also much affordable than the other pickups out with similar specs.
The Ford Ranger XLS is based on the XLS model of the American pickup and houses under its hood the same 2.2-litre turbodiesel motor that pumps out of 158 hp of maximum power and a peak torque of 385 Nm. The transmission coupled with the diesel-fed engine is a six-speed manual. Furthermore, the pickup has also received a few appearance tweaks.
Instead of a heavy dose of chrome, the Ford Ranger XLS Sport features a gloss black grille, bumper, and alloys which are of 17-inch. There are also step boards fitted on the pickup. Despite the much lower price tag, the Ford Ranger XLS Sport gets both the Ford SYNC infotainment system and cruise control. Moving on to the colors options, buyers can choose from Arctic White, Absolute Black, Aluminum Metallic, Meteor Grey, and True Red. The Ford Ranger XLS Sport is available in both 4x2 and 4x4 drive options with the two variants getting a price tag of Php 1,062,000 and Php 1,211,000, respectively.
Interested Filipinos can get their hands on the much affordable 4x4 Ranger with a stick starting tomorrow, i.e., 21 June 2019. “The new Ranger XLS Sport is definitely a welcome addition to our already extensive Ranger lineup in the country, catering to customers with more utilitarian needs.
It remains one of the most powerful and performance-bred pickup trucks in the market today with a more striking and recognizable exterior while still retaining the same Built Ford Tough features that our customers have grown to love”, said Ryan Lorenzo, who is the Ford Philippines assistant vice president of marketing.
