Ford Ranger, Transit pulled into duty for frontliners and hospitals
MANILA: Ford Philippines collaborated with San Miguel Foods for the delivery of about 49,000 pieces of bread and other baked products to frontliners in different hospitals, charity groups, parishes, police districts, and local government units (LGUs) around Metro Manila. The distribution was done daily for two consecutive weeks amid the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) — implemented to control the spread of COVID-19 in the country.
Ford also partnered with The Outstanding Women in Nation’s Service (TOWNS) Foundation and AmCham Foundation to assist in the delivery of medical supplies (again using the Ford Ranger) to different hospitals. The medical supplies that were brought to the medical frontliners comprised of alcohol products, shower caps, gloves, face masks, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
Through the Ford Ranger, Ford was able to transport its donations of medical supplies to the various healthcare workers from the San Juan De Dios Hospital, Ospital ng Muntinlupa, Manila Doctors Hospital, and the Philippine General Hospital (PGH). Ford also brought medical supplies to the Bauan Medical Society and the Philippine College of Occupational Medicine, its partner medical organizations for medical missions.
Managing director of Ford Philippines PK Umashankar said that they understand the immediate need to ferry medical supplies and food during this period where mobility is limited. Through the company’s Ford Ranger pickup truck, they can transport these essential items to the healthcare personnel and medical frontliners for them to perform their responsibilities efficiently. Through the Ford Ranger as well as its payload capacity, the auto company can transport medical supplies and food while making lesser trips. This makes delivery operations more efficient, convenient, and faster.
During the early implementation of the ECQ, Ford loaned its Ford Transit van to Lifeline 16911 for ferrying medical frontliners to the individual ambulance stations across Metro Manila. These points of dispatch or designated ambulance stations house the crew, equipment, and ambulance of Lifeline 16911.
Lifeline 16911 is considered to be the biggest pre-hospital provider and private ambulance service in Metro Manila that delivers patient transfer services, doctors on call, and 24/7 emergency quick response ambulances.
Ford also provided another Transit van to the Asian Hospital in Muntinlupa City to transport health care workers from different pick-up points in the city to the hospital. They are also shuttled back to the designated drop-off points after their shifts. This initiative will enable medical frontliners to get to the Asian Hospital more conveniently.
Both the Asian Hospital and Lifeline 16911 will be able to utilize the Ford Transit vans until May 4, 2020 to ease medical service delivery during the ECQ.
