G whiz: Mercedes-Benz PH offers G 350d for P10.89-M
MANILA: Amid a steadily recovering auto market, Mercedes-Benz Philippines is proffering the G 350d. The local distributor of the Stuttgart-headquartered premium brand points out the history of the G-Class, which has won a following with “outstanding driving characteristics and impressive off-road capabilities.”
Motivated by an in-line 3.0-liter, six-cylinder diesel heart, the G 350d banks on 285hp and 600Nm of output. Mercedes-Benz manages emissions with measures installed directly to the engine. “This contributes to faster effectiveness of the catalytic converter and the diesel particulate filter. Thanks to the near-engine insulated configuration, the emission control system has little heat loss and ideal operating conditions,” said Mercedes-Benz Philippines in a release.
Its engine is mated to a 9G-Tronic automatic transmission with a torque converter. Dedicated software application shortens the shift and response times of the nine-speed transmission for more spirited performance. “The wide transmission ratio not only makes driving quieter and more comfortable especially at low engine speeds, it simultaneously contributes to reducing fuel consumption.”
The G 350d boasts a Keyless-Go function, leather seats, leather grab handles for front passengers, automatic dimming interior mirror, and 64-color ambient lighting in 10 color schemes. A 12.3-inch widescreen cockpit resolution display show instrumentation.
Up front, the vehicle features LED high-performance headlights. The SUV is equipped with 19-inch, five-spoke light alloys, and boasts metallic pain and illuminated front door sill panels.
Five drive modes are available via Dynamic Select, which adjusts the engine characteristics, as well as transmission, suspension, and steering. Adaptive brake lights and active braking assist prevent collisions or mitigate their severity and assist the driver during emergency braking. If necessary, the vehicle will brake by itself if the driver fails to take action.
Mercedes-Benz said that the exhaust system and the engine, while high-revving, produce much less noise and vibrations felt in the cabin. “To reduce engine noise, the engine mounts of the diesel engine are actively controlled for the first time. At higher engine speeds, the two engine mounts are automatically made stiffer, which has positive effects on the vibrational comfort and the driving dynamics,” explained the carmaker.
The new G 350d presents “a mix of off-roading ability and creature comforts that Mercedes-Benz is known for. On the road, the “G” is as agile as it is comfortable and provides the driver with a better steering feel. The off-roader stays on track more solidly, and is nimble and effortless when driving off-road.”
The vehicle is available at Mercedes-Benz Philippines dealerships (EDSA Greenhills, Bonifacio Global City, Alabang, and Cebu) for P10.89 million. For more information, visit www.mercedes-benz.ph.
