Hyundai Electric Ioniq Hybrid Stepped at the Geneva Motor Show 2016
MANILA: Following the trend of the Philippines automotive world, various brands have been presenting alluring promos and discounts since the year's beginning. Hyundai had held itself relatively back in terms of launches and promo offerings this year. However, with the very little to offer in the recent past, it has now come up with the Hyundai Electric Ioniq Hybrid. This was exhibited at the Geneva Motor Show this year, with the package of three electric based powertrains. Though being reserved, this brand certainly made massive noise at the Delhi Auto Expo 2016, where it released its four concept cars. These concepts have been designed at the Hyundai's Namyang Design Centre situated in South Korea. As per the indian scenario, it will have tough competition with Kia, Honda and Toyota SUVs. Also, the upcoming opponents would be Vitara Brezza, Ford Ecosport and KUV 100.
Talking in perspective of its technical specifications, the Ioniq Hybrid and Ioniq Plug-in both are equipped with a 1.6L GDI direct injection gasoline engine that has the potential to produce the power of 105 PS along with a torque of 147 Nm. Also, the Ioniq Electric possesses an electric motor that can churn the power of 120 PS with a torque 295 Nm. Additionally, it possesses a 6 speed double clutch gearbox. The three powertrains mentioned at the initial discussion includes Ioniq Hybrid, the Ioniq Electric and the Ioniq Plug-in. It is doubtless to state that the automakers are going out of the way to show off their technological innovations. In this regard, this brand has also got to present an aerodynamic body structure for this car. This helps the car to become light in weight yet very responsive in nature.
Furthermore, the common technological trends are followed by this brand too. This statement can be supported by the fact that this car will also be driver oriented and is studded with an impressive infotainment system. The major highlights of the entertainment section states the presence of a 7-inch TFT instrument cluster with the provision of Android Auto and Apple CarPlay for connectivity avenues.
The depleting resources and zero emission models are mushrooming at a slow yet trending pace. The automakers namely Nissan presented their Leaf model that is categorized under the electric car category. Further, Honda India also declared its plan to showcase its major indian line-up on the plug-in hybrid by the year 2020. These all electric vehicles will surely help in conserving the precious environment.
