Hyundai Ioniq 6 Hailed as Car and Driver’s 2023 EV of the Year
MANILA: The 2023 Hyundai Ioniq 6 bagged this year's Car and Driver EV of the Year Award. This is the second consecutive year that Hyundai won the award with the Ioniq 5 receiving the title in 2022.

The EV of the Year Award follows the same criteria used for Car and Driver's 10Best. The winning vehicle must surpass the standards set by the Car and Driver editorial and testing teams in four key areas: value, mission fulfillment, technology advancement, and fun to drive.

The Ioniq 6, which Hyundai refers to as an “electrified streamliner,” is aerodynamically shaped and uses sustainable materials in clever ways to represent the values of today's electric vehicle customers.
The 77.4kWh battery of the Ioniq 6 powers the front and rear electric motors. The Ioniq 6 has a system output of 229ps of power and 350Nm of torque. The battery can be charged from 10% to 80% in less than 20 minutes using a high-speed charger. When fully charged, the Ioniq 6 has a range of 545km.
The Ioniq 6 offers the same cutting-edge vehicle-to-load (V2L) feature as the Ioniq 5, allowing customers to plug in electronic devices to the vehicle to charge them. It is perfect for outdoor activities and powering necessities during a power outage.
In the Philippines, Hyundai recently opened the pre-order books for the Ioniq 6 with a retail price of P3.798 million.
Other contenders for Car and Driver’s 2023 EV of the Year Award include Audi Q4 E-tron, BMW i7, Cadillac Lyric AWD, GMC Hummer EV SUV, Genesis Electrified GV70, Kia EV6 GT, Kia Niro EV, Lexus RZ450e, Lucid Air Pure, Mercedes-Benz EQE350, Nissan Ariya e-4orce, Toyota bZ4X AWD, and VinFast VF8.
Car and Driver used instrumented testing, subjective assessment, and side-by-side comparison for both practicality and entertainment value.
