Hyundai Ioniq to Fight Prius with Three Engine Options
MANILA: Hyundai cars is under preparation to give a tough time to Toyota hybrid kid, Prius. The South Korean company is soon to introduce its next hybrid car, the Hyundai Ioniq. What's different about this car is its powertrain options, as unlike its competitors, it will carry as many as three mills, each placed to suit different power needs of the occupants.
The said Hyundai hybrid car will make its global debut early next year, until then we have to satisfy ourselves with the limited information. To make things simpler for fans, Hyundai has also released an early stage car production image that doesn't say much about the body design language except that the car will carry conventional hybrid design theme.
So, as per image the car will carry some bold character lines that will run down to its entire body length. Also, we can see LED headlights and taillights making a bold impression. The roof line looks a bit sloppy towards the end and some chrome detailing on the window frame are also visible. Along with prominent wheel arches, we can also expect side skirts making an appearance on the end product that will be showcased in January 2016.
Hyundai seems to be very satisfied and confident with its new three engine product. To be precise, the three mills include a standard hybrid engine, a plug-in hybrid mill and lastly a fully electric, EV version. Other details about Hyundai Ioniq is still under cover and we are expecting them to flow in bit and pieces in the time to come.
Woong-Chul Yang, Head R & D centre said the company is very happy about its latest addition to the hybrid cars line-up. Also, Ioniq is an example of Hyundai's long legacy to create something different suiting the changing customer needs that it is fulfilling by giving three engine options in one car. To sum up, words like fuel efficient, green cars, driving enjoyment, future mobility are in Hyundai's mind while building IONIQ, the Toyota Prius antagonist.
