HMIL Director and Chief Operating Officer Tarun Garg said that the crossover's new energy vehicle version marks a significant milestone for the company being its first localized electric sport utility vehicle.
“Hyundai Motor Company has established itself as a pioneer in EV innovation with revolutionary and award winning EVs like Ioniq, and the Hyundai Creta Electric is no different. Continuing the strong legacy of the Creta brand, the Hyundai Creta Electric combines design, technology, and exceptional safety to inspire confidence in electric vehicles among Indian customers. With the addition of this electric powertrain, we now have a Creta for everyone,” the executive noted.
“We are confident that the Hyundai Creta Electric will set a new standard in quality for electric SUVs in India and will redefine the success of EVs in the country,” Garg added.
In India alone, the Creta nameplate has sold more than 1.1 units — making it a known model in the said country.
Vehicle specifications
Outside, the Hyundai Creta Electric’s look is inspired by the brand's Pixel design language as expressed by its front-grille with integrated charging port as well as the front lower and rear bumpers, and LED taillamps.
It also comes with active air flaps to manage the air flow and cool the vehicle components while improving aerodynamic performance. Complementing this are the aero alloy wheels with low rolling resistance tires.
Per HMIL, the Hyundai Creta Electric’s powertrain allows the vehicle to reach 100 kilometers per hour from standstill in 7.9 seconds (depending on the trim chosen) and reach a range of 47 kilometers.
The Hyundai Creta Electric can be juiced up from 10 to 80 percent in less than an hour (58 minutes) using a DC charger while its 11kW Smart Connected Wall Box charger can charge it within four hours.
Its notable technological features include the following:
- Vehicle-to-load charging: making it a portable power source)
- i-Pedal technology: allowing drivers to accelerate, decelerate and even bring the car to a complete stop using just the accelerator pedal
- Shift-by-wire system: offering intuitive gear control
- Digital Key: Allowing users to conveniently lock, unlock and start the vehicle using their smartphone or smartwatch
To be offered in 51.4 and 42 kilowatt-hour battery options, the Hyundai Creta Electric will become available in four trims namely the following:
- Executive
- Smart
- Premium
- Excellence
The said model will come in eight single and a pair of dual-tone body color options.

Locally, the Hyundai Creta is still internal-combustion-engine powered — with all three variants equipped with the Smartstream G1.5 gasoline mill mated to either a six-speed manual or an intelligent variable transmission. The said mill can deliver113 horses and 144 Newton-meters of torque.
