According to the study, from 2017 to 2022, Hyundai reduced its carbon emissions from 193 to 187 grams per kilometer. During the same period, the carmaker's real-world fuel economy increased from 12.1 to 12.3 kilometers per liter.

“EPA’s Automotive Trends Report is an important barometer of the industry’s fuel economy progress, and we are proud that this year’s data reflects our ongoing efforts to offer a more efficient vehicle lineup. We are leading the way in reducing carbon emissions and increasing fuel efficiency for our customers by continuing the push toward electrification. We believe this is an important step in helping consumers reduce their environmental impact and we plan to continue growing our hybrid and electric vehicle (EV) sales in 2024,” Hyundai Motor Company President and Chief Operating Officer Jose Muñoz stated.

Offering 10 electric, hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and hydrogen-powered models, including the Ioniq 5 and 6 and the all-new Kona Electric, Hyundai continuously shows its commitment to electrification. EVs accounted for seven percent of Hyundai's total sales in 2023. By 2030, the carmaker plans to launch more than 17 new battery EV models globally and targets to capture seven percent of the global EV market.
