Hyundai Reina isn’t the most affordable sub-compact sedan anymore
MANILA: With the arrival of Q2 2019, the prices of some of the Hyundai cars have increased. The most affordable sub-compact sedan in the Philippines, Hyundai Reina has received a price increment of Php 40,000 on both of its manual and automatic variants.
When launched, the Hyundai Reina carried a starting price tag of Php 598,000. The sub-compact sedan was made available in two variants and the second model that features an automatic transmission was priced at Php 648,000. However, it hasn’t been too long since the arrival of Reina in the country, and the automaker has already increased its price by Php 40,000.
The two models of the Hyundai Reina now retail at Php 638,000 and Php 688,000, respectively. After the price hike, the Hyundai Reina is not the most affordable sub-compact sedan in the Philippines anymore.
Kia Soluto, another South Korean sub-compact sedan which comes at a starting price of Php 625,000 for its base model LX, is now the cheapest car in the segment. With the price increment, the Hyundai Reina retails at an amount equal to the price of Suzuki Dzire.
It’s not just the Reina that has had its price hiked as other Hyundai vehicles like Ioniq Hybrid and Kona also come with a higher price tag now. While an increase of Php Php 70,000 has taken the price of Kona to Php 1,118,000, the Ioniq Hybrid now retails at 1,548,000, which is Php 50,000 more than before. Fortunately, the likes of Tucson, Santa Fe, Accent, Grand Starex, and Veloster Turbo still feature the same price tag as before.
Launched last year to lock horns with the Kia Soluto, the Hyundai Reina comes with similar dimensions but different looks when compared to its counterpart. The sub-compact sedan gets its power from a 1.4-litre Kappa inline-four motor that makes 95 PS of maximum power and a peak torque of 132 Nm.
The Reina can be had with either a manual or an automatic transmission unit. In recent times, Hyundai has been doing great in the Philippines as HARI witnessed a growth of 12.5 % in the first quarter (Q1) of 2019, know more here.
