For the South Korean carmaker, this is the ninth year in a row that it has won iF Design Award in various disciplines.
  • With a Gold award in the Product category, Hyundai’s lauded 2023 Hyundai Ioniq 6 came in first place. Its aerodynamic shape embodies the brand’s dedication to energy efficiency and environmental responsibility, which is focused on the needs of the client. Since its introduction, the “electrified streamliner” has taken home a number of honors, including the prestigious World Car of the Year, World Electric Vehicle, and World Car Design of the Year awards at the New York International Auto Show.

Hyundai Ioniq 6 and Grandeur Design Awards

The Hyundai Ioniq 6 received high marks for having "a fresh and unique exterior aesthetic with subtle motifs that are carried over into a serene and relaxing interior," according to the iF Design Award judges. Deep commitments to comfort, style, efficiency, and environmental responsibility form the foundation of its entire design character.

The judges also gave Hyundai Grandeur (marketed as Azera in regions outside of Korea) an award in the Product category. With cutting-edge aesthetic cues and high-tech elements like its Seamless Horizon Lamp and premium interior with sustainable material applications, the seventh-generation flagship sedan is praised for expanding on the brand's design legacy while charting a course for the future of mobility. It is noteworthy that Grandeur also won a Red Dot Award this week.

The Ioniq lifestyle character merchandise from Hyundai Motor was also honored by the jury in the Product category for linking the brand to the customers' daily lives. The company expanded the 'Parametric Pixel' design language from Ioniq's car applications to character products, demonstrating the potential for human engagement both inside and outside the vehicle.

    Hyundai Professional Idea Awards

Hyundai Motor's N Vision 74 'rolling lab' project won an iF Design Award in the Professional Idea category for its retro-futuristic styling and ground-breaking hydrogen-hybrid high-performance idea. The automobile was designated an "Instant Icon" by the 2022 TopGear Awards following its stunning digital premiere in July of last year.

The indoor/outdoor delivery service robot from Hyundai Motor also made the list of winners in the Professional Concept category. The unique Plug & Drive (PnD) module from Hyundai Motors, which integrates an in-wheel motor, steering, suspension, brake system, and environmental sensors into one, is installed on the service robot. In Korea's trial programs, the robot has already demonstrated its skills.

The panel also gave Hyundai Motor's autonomous driving "Roun" robo-mobility solution, which is intended to improve mobility for a variety of passengers, particularly those with special requirements, recognition in the Professional Concept category.

MobED, PnD L7, and PnD Mobility were among the other Hyundai Motor robotics-based mobility solutions recognized in the Professional Concept category. All of these products are a reflection of the company's goal to significantly enhance mobility.

    Hyundai UI Awards

The new connected vehicle Navigation Cockpit (ccNC) 'Seon' entertainment system from Hyundai Motor, which was originally used on the all-new Grandeur, was chosen by the jury for the UI category. The next-generation system's design incorporates a horizon line and straightforward, flat graphic elements that blend in with the overall user interface of the car to provide a graphic style that is unique to Hyundai.

    Hyundai Marketing Awards

The Hyundai Marketing 2022 CES Exhibition Booth, where the company's robotics-based mobility gadgets were first displayed, won praise from the jury in the Interior Architecture category. Through an immersive experience showing how the physical and digital worlds can converge into one metaverse, the booth introduced its concept of meta-mobility.

Hyundai's Marketing division won awards in the Communication category for its innovative work on the IONIQ 6 launch, which included a narrative film for the global premiere and a 3D design unveil film that showed on digital billboards. It further won for the IONIQ 5 Robotaxi film, which is a component of an international marketing effort to introduce clients to Hyundai's self-driving technology.

Hyundai Marketing's extended reality (XR) material for the online IONIQ 6 Digital Studio received an iF Design Award in the categories of communication and user experience. The brand created an immersive user experience to promote an EV that can be customized to each customer's preferences.

For the South Korean carmaker, this is the ninth year in a row that it has won iF Design Award in various disciplines.

“We are honored to be recognized as a lifestyle mobility brand that forges strong emotional connections between people and vehicles by bringing more value to our customer’s everyday life,” said SangYup Lee, Executive Vice President and Head of Hyundai Global Design Center. “Our global design team has worked hand-in-hand with our engineers to inject passion and knowledge into every product, concept, venue and interface with the aim of sharing our brand’s values.”
