The Seon infotainment system design theme and the mobility-exclusive font Hyundai Sans UI won the award under the Interactive Media category. The N Vision 74, Ioniq 6, Grandeur, and Kona were among the models that received the award under the Transportation category.
With this honor, the N Vision 74 high-performance hydrogen hybrid “rolling lab” achieved a grand slam by taking home the four most prestigious international design awards: iF, International Design Excellence Awards, Red Dot, and Good Design.
As part of Hyundai Motor's heritage communication initiatives, the N Vision 74 aims to discover the vision of the future through the spirit of the first independently built Korean sports car prototype, the Pony Coupe Concept, which was unveiled in 1974.
Meanwhile, the Ioniq 6 gained attention with its svelte exterior and sophisticated interior design. The all-electric car combined efficiency and sensibility with a smooth, streamlined design that reduces wind resistance, earning it the highest aerodynamic coefficient of 0.21 among all Hyundai Motor vehicles.
For the Grandeur, what made it stand out is its cutting-edge design, which reimagines the classic styles of earlier models. It represents the idea of Hyundai Motor's flagship sedan with its contemporary design and luxuriously comfortable interior.
Meanwhile, the Kona stays true to the classic design cues from previous models while projecting a forward-thinking look exclusive to electric vehicles. Elegance is emphasized by the prominent surfaces, sharp lines, and seamless horizon lamp that spans the front.
The Korean carmaker also took home awards in the Interactive Media category with the Seon, connected car navigation cockpit (ccNC) infotainment system and the mobility-exclusive font Hyundai Sans UI.
First seen in the new Grandeur, Seon is a new design theme for the next-generation integrated infotainment system. It takes on a unique visual style that conveys a sense of familiarity and comfort through the use of common linear elements like straight lines and ovals.
Meanwhile, Hyundai Sans UI is the brand's first mobility exclusive font, applied to the infotainment system of ccNC-equipped models. It helps enhance the full functionality of the infotainment system by offering consistent legibility in any external surroundings through an interplay of smooth curves and straight lines.
“With this intuitive and attractive design, we’ve provided a familiar and comfortable interface for our customers to enhance their overall experience. We are proud to offer these award-winning features that truly prioritize the needs and satisfaction of our valued customers,” Hyundai Motor Company Infotainment Development Center Head Haeyoung Kwon stated.
Commenting on the win, Hyundai and Genesis Global Design Executive Vice President and Head Sangyup Lee said, “This recognition serves as a testament to the exceptional dedication exhibited by our team of visionary designers… alongside our collaborative engineers at the research and development center. It highlights the remarkable competitiveness of Hyundai’s design identity within the global market.”
The winners of the Good Design Awards are chosen by The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design in Chicago, Illinois, and The European Centre for Architecture, Art, Design and Urban Studies in Europe.
Every year, they give recognition to remarkable projects across a range of categories based on extensive evaluations of the highest aesthetic standards for innovative design, modern technology, form, materials, construction, idea, concept, energy efficiency, and environmental awareness.
