Kia PH updates Seltos

Kia Philippines has updated the new Seltos — roughly four years after the nameplate has been introduced in the country.

The launch of the Kia Seltos’ latest iteration was made after the Korean automaker revealed the offering at the Los Angeles Auto Show late last year.

Sporting significant upgrades, the spruced-up five-seater sport utility vehicle comes with a more athletic look — designed to make the vehicle more appealing for customers who have an on-the-go lifestyle.

Spearheading the string of improvements are the bolder tiger nose grille design that goes well with the neatly laid-out illumination system (which are either on halogen or LED, depending on the chosen trim). The rear portion of the vehicle highly resembles the aesthetics in the front — with both ends wearing satin-finished skid plates.

The new Kia Seltos sits on 17-inch alloy wheels wrapped in 215/60 tires.

Inside, the vehicle is fitted with a multi-function digital display (either 4.2- or 10.25-inch liquid crystal display), an infotainment system (eight- or 10.25-inch touchscreen) that has Android Auto, wireless Apple Carplay, and Bluetooth connectivity mated to a six-speaker set-up, and seats that are covered in cloth or leather.

In addition, the top-of-the-line variation comes with wireless charging dock and push-start system as well as leather trimmings on the tilt-and-telescopic steering wheel and gear-shift levers.

Both the mid-grade and crème dela crème versions get amenities like the electronic parking brake system, and controls for cruise control, audio, and Bluetooth hands-free system on the steering wheel.

The new Kia Seltos comes in two powertrain options: the 1.5-liter, in-line four-cylinder, double overhead cam Smartstream engine mated to an intelligent variable transmission (for the base trim); and the 1.4-liter turbocharged mill matched to a seven-speed dual clutch gearbox.

Outfitted in the new Kia Seltos’ top-tier option are the numerous advanced features such as the smart cruise control with stop-and-go feature, lane keep assist, lane follow assist, forward collision avoidance assist — among others.

Just like other Kia models, the new Seltos is packaged with a five-year or 160,000-kilometer warranty and 24/7 roadside assistance.

Available in Snow White Pearl, Gravity Gray, Pluton Blue, and Snow White Pearl with Black roof, the new Kia Seltos is offered at the following prices:

• 1.5 LX AT: P1.198 million
• 1.5 EX AT:P1.288 million
• 1.4 SX AT: P1.688 million
