Kia unveils limited edition Stinger GTS at 2019 NY International Auto Show

MANILA: Kia has unveiled the limited edition Stinger GTS at the ongoing NY International Auto Show. It is the more dynamic and sportier version of the sports sedan. The deliveries will be limited to 800 units globally, and each of the cars receives specially tuned AWD system.

Designing wise, the limited edition Stinger GTS  comes with an exclusive 'Federation Orange' body colour. Moreover, there are some new additions that include a GTS rear emblem and carbon fibre components (side mirrors, side vents, front grille).

Getting inside the car, the automaker has also equipped the four-wheeler with lots of new equipment like Alcantara-wrapped steering wheel, sunroof, 720-watt Harman/Kardon sound system and wireless charging for smartphones.

Stinger GTS gets the D-AWD (Dynamic all-wheel drive) layout, which is different from the all-wheel-drive (AWD) of standard Stinger GT. The carmaker claims that the Dynamic all-wheel drive fills the gap between the grippier AWD system and traditional rear-wheel drive. To enhance the power and traction distribution, the GTS features a new mechanical limited-slip rear differential. It also gets three rear-biased drive modes - drift, comfort, and sport.

In the comfort and sport modes, the system sends only 60% and 80% of power to the rear wheels, respectively. While in case of the drift mode, all available power is sent to the rear wheels. Moreover, the system also holds the gears without upshifting, so that drift will be maintained. Furthermore, the car features a new control logic system, which helps to monitor the transmission shift pattern, slip control and counter steer detection.

The vehicle arms the same 3.3-litre twin-turbo V6 mill under the hood. It is capable of churning out a maximum of 370 PS and the peak torque is at 510 Nm. The power is sent to the wheels via an eight-speed automatic gearbox.
