Land Rover Defender receives 5-star safety rating from Euro NCAP

MANILA: The Land Rover Defender garnered a new achievement with its five-star safety rating from the Euro New Car Assessment Program (NCAP).

The Defender received a score of 85% for Adult and Child Occupant Protection, 79% for Safety Assist, and 71% for Vulnerable Road Users.

This award-winning vehicle is constructed with an extremely rigid aluminum body to ensure a high level of safety and durability. The Defender is also installed with modern safety technologies such as emergency braking, blind spot assist, lane keep assist, 3D surround camera, clear exit monitor, adaptive cruise control, driver condition monitor, rear collision monitor, rear traffic monitor, traffic sign recognition and adaptive speed limiter, and wade sensing. Land Rover has guaranteed superior protection for the driver and passengers with the Defender’s six airbags and up to three Isofix mounting points.

Taking pride in the latest recognition, Jaguar Land Rover Product Engineering Executive Director Nick Rogers said, “From the moment we started creating the new Defender, we were obsessed with functional safety and the protection of both the occupants and other road users. We set out to make a vehicle that is the most capable and durable Land Rover ever made, with safety features that truly enhance the driver’s experience. It’s an incredible honor to receive this recognition from (the people at) Euro NCAP who have endorsed our new Defender with their five-star rating.”

The new Defender was first introduced at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2019 and since then, it has acquired 28 international awards.

Land Rover is also known for its in-line six Ingenium diesel engines with mild hybrid technology and its P400e plug-in hybrid which gives a fully electric range of up to 43 km and 74 g/km carbon dioxide emissions.

Land Rover had recently added the X-Dynamic to its selection of grades for Defender 90 and 110. The X-Dynamic grade includes some upgraded style elements for the vehicle’s exterior and interior.
