MANILA: Kia PH nearly hits 6.7k-unit sales mark in 2024

MANILA: Kia Philippines has sold 6,692 units last year — a 33-percent increase compared to its retail performance in 2023.

Based on the joint Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines Incorporated-Truck Manufacturers Association report for 2024, the ACMobility-led automotive distributor made it to the organizations’ Top 10 best-selling firms.

To recall, Kia Philippines Chief Executive Officer Brian Buendia said that the target sales volume for 2024 is around 8,000.

Further,  Kia Philippines sold 805 units in December 2024 — its highest monthly sales tally since the the Ayala subsidiary acquired the brand's distributorship in 2019.

“We are incredibly pleased with the performance of our vehicles in 2024, which has resonated well with Filipino consumers,” ACMobility Head of Automotive Retail Distribution Antonio Zara III said.

“Surpassing 800-unit sales in a single month is a testament to the hard work of our team and dealer partners, and it highlights the momentum we’ve built in the market with models that address the aspirations of Filipino motorists. As we continue to lead a movement that inspires, we are excited to carry this success into 2025 and beyond,” he added.

Here are the models that propelled Kia Philippines' local presence in the previous year.

The Kia Sonet — which was launched in June 2024 — became one of the best-selling models locally after achieving 23-percent market share since it entered the B-segment sport utility vehicle (SUV) market.

By December last year, the subcompact crossover was able to roll out 3,823 examples to customers — making it the brand’s top-selling nameplate in the Philippines. It is also the fourth best-selling subcompact SUV for the year.

Further, Kia Philippines also launched the Kia EV9 at the 9th Philippine International Motor Show, which secured the following global recognitions in 2024:

• World Electric Vehicle Award
• World Car of the Year title

In addition, it was also late last year when the company introduced the spruced-up version of the Carnival — both in diesel-fed and hybrid-powered iterations.

Plans for 2025

In a statement, the Korean automaker’s local arm said that Kia Philippines noted that it remains committed “to offering reliable, modern, and fuel-efficient vehicles to the Philippine market” and eyes to “build on its strong sales momentum and deliver even more exciting and customer-centric models in the coming years.”

“2024 has been a pivotal year for Kia Philippines, and we're thrilled with the growth we've seen. Our success with the Sonet and other models reinforces our commitment to delivering innovative, reliable, and stylish vehicles to Filipino consumers. We’re excited to build on this momentum and continue offering products that meet the needs of the modern Filipino driver," Buendia shared.

Moreover, Kia Philippines might bring in the EV5 this year, as company executives confirmed its arrival in 2024.
