Mazda CX-4 Marks Its Debut At Beijing Motor Show 2016

MANILA: Beijing Motor Show 2016 has begun with a bang! The show is scheduled between 25th April and 4th may 2016 and the first 2 days of the show are reserved for the media personnel and obviously these 2 days will mark the most important launches and showcases. It has been just a couple of weeks since the company floated some teaser images and initial information about the all-new CX-4 SUV. As promised, Mazda has unveiled its new CX-4 at the 2016 Beijing Motor Show platform and is highly appreciated for its looks. As of now, the company has revealed that the launched model is exclusively for China automotive market.

 

The absolutely stunning Mazda CX-4 is based on the Koeru Concept revealed at the Frankfurt Motor Show 2015 and shows the same stance and features. The recently launched SUV is quite similar to other cars based on the Koreu Concept and flaunts the Mazda's latest patent Kodo – Soul of Motion philosophy. Talking about the styling of this machine, it has a big and wide 4 bar radiator grille with chrome plating. The stunning LED headlamps and fog lamps complete this front fascia and give a robust yet elegant look to this SUV. For Chinese automotive market, 17 and 19-inch alloy wheels are offered along with complementing tires for absolute stability and comfortable driving at varied terrains. The 5-seater measures 4633 mm x 1535 mm x 1840 mm (L X W X H) along with wheelbase measuring to 2700 mm. The minimum ground clearance counted for this drive is 185 mm which is decent enough for a crossover. The dimensions look quite identical to the CX-5 SUV but the difference in style and amenities make it stand apart from the crowd.

As far as the cabin of new CX-4 is considered, it is bestowed with stylish and sporty trim which truly compliment the exterior. Chrome accents are given at the dash, steering and centre console, which reflects the premiumness of the new crossover. With premium upholstery and intelligent layout, the cabin trim looks quite similar to that of Mazda 3. With all the comforting features like dual-zone climate control, air-con vents and electronic handbrake, there is an advanced infotainment system comprising MZD Connect 7-inch touch display. The cabin also houses a head-up display for the entertainment of rear seats passengers.

And guess we are now on the most important segment of this drive, the power segment. The new CX-4 SUV has arrived with a choice of 2.0-litre and 2.5-litre gasoline engines. For of these engines are mated with SkyActiv-G technology for which Mazda is well-known. The 2.0-litre engine knocks out 158 hp of peak power along with 202 Nm of peak torque while the 2.5-litre engine churns 192 hp of high power complimenting to 252 Nm of maximum torque. These engines are mingled with the SkyActiv-Drive 6-speed automatic transmission which enhances the driving experience delivering the best of what Mazda can offer. During the launch, Mazda officials cited that they are planning to bring this drive to other countries also in nearby future. Though they have not mentioned anything specific about the Philippines but surely with the market share captured by Mazda in Philippines automotive market and with the increasing demand of SUVs and crossovers in this market, Mazda can't resist bringing it here soon!
