Mazda PH Introduced new models Equipped With ‘SkyActiv-D’
MANILA: This summer has brought a bucket of surprises and good news for the Filipinos. Yesterday only the country was abuzz with the launch of new Mirage and now Berjaya Auto Philippines, the local distributor of Mazda automobiles, has introduced its new Mazda6 and the CX-5 in the country.
We know what are you thinking, what’s the big deal. Here’s a catch. Both the models are very different from their previous models but no squinting here will help you see the difference. The only difference you will find is a trunk badge that now reads ‘SkyActiv Technology D’. Yes, the Japanese automaker has finally introduced the SkyActiv-D technology in the country to transform your driving experience.
Both Mazda6 and CX-5 are powered by a 2.2-litre twin-turbocharged diesel engine producing a maximum power of 173 hp along with a hefty torque of 420 Nm. With the SkyActiv-D technology, the engine delivers the lowest compression ratio for a diesel engine. Earlier, the Japanese automaker started with SkyActiv-G technology where the compression ratio is increased to diesel levels to pour out maximum power from every drop of fuel. With this technology, engines are tuned for class-leading efficiency without the need of additional electric motor. Now, the SkyActiv-D technology works in a total opposite way as it lowers the compression ratio to diesel levels at (14:1), reducing fuel consumption. And with the cleaner exhaust emissions, the result we get is better fuel efficiency with lower emissions.
Earlier, BAP was apprehensive to launch this technology in the country due to our fuel quality but with the government’s order to meet Euro 4 compliant emissions standards, BAP decided to bring its new technology in the country. The new technology does not only meet the local emissions standard, it also complies with global emission standards, as SkyActiv-D is Euro 6 compliant also.
Apart from this latest and the most advanced technology in the world, the award-winning Mazda6 and the CX-5 are aesthetically similar to the ones launched last year.
Both these models are available at Mazda showrooms nationwide with an increase in their respective prices.
SkyActiv-D Mazda6 and CX-5 prices are as follows:
Mazda6 SkyActiv-D: Php 1,985,000
Mazda CX-5 SkyActiv-D: Php 1,985,000
