Mazda PH reports 38% sales increase in H1
MANILA: Bermaz Auto Philippines Inc., the official distributor of Mazda vehicles and parts in the country, recorded a 38% sales increase in the first half of 2021 versus the same period last year. The CX-9, CX-8, CX-5, CX-30, and CX-3 nameplates accounted for 60% of the total sales.
The CX-5 premium five-seater crossover saw a 38% sales improvement in the first half of the year compared to the same period last year. Meanwhile, Mazda’s two premium three-row crossover models, the CX-9 and CX-8, have both significantly contributed to the brand’s share in the premium crossover market. CX-9 sales increased by 100% in the first half of 2021 versus the same period last year. On the other hand, the CX-8 recorded a 50% increase in the first half of the year compared to the similar period of 2020.
According to consolidated industry reports as of June 2021, the CX-8 emerged as the top-selling seven-seater crossover for models priced above P2 million, followed by the flagship CX-9. The combined share of the CX-8 and CX-9 sales in the premium crossover segment for the first six months of the year is at 63%.
In a statement, Mazda Philippines President and Chief Executive Officer Steven Tan said, “The three-row CX-9 and CX-8 continue to make strong inroads into large households and management executive segments, offering unmatched premium quality and performance typical of more expensive luxury brands at a much more accessible price level. Combined with a comprehensive five-year free service plan and an award-winning customer service network, the CX-9 and the CX-8 are the best three-row crossovers for your money.”
The executive added, “The five-year free service plan, a standard package that is included in all new Mazda vehicles, has brought a new level of ownership satisfaction to the customers from the start of the pandemic last year, I have heard from customers that the free service plan completes the premium experience of owning a Mazda— a premium product with class-leading driving and ownership experience.”
Aside from the premium crossover models, the Mazda MX-5 roadster has also continued to be one of the favorites of Filipino car enthusiasts. The MX-5 bested open-top two-door sports cars in the first half of 2021. “We are thrilled with the joy and happiness this little sports car brings to the community,” Tan stated.
Due to its outstanding after-sales service record, Mazda Philippines has ranked first in the 2016 and 2019 editions of the JD Power Customer Service Index Study.
