Mercedes-Benz flaunts features of new AMG-E 53 Coupe and Cabriolet

MANILA: The Mercedes-Benz AMG continues to support and enhance its unique range of vehicles.

Through the optional AMG Night package, the E 53 Coupe and Cabriolet both exhibit a sportier stance. Both Mercedes models also have the classic AMG-specific radiator grille with vertical slats, highlighting its membership and performance qualifications in the AMG line. When seen from the front, the A-shaped design and the newest LED headlamps establish a width-concentrated, strong impression. The redesigned front bumper having an A-wing design also improves the general vehicle dimensions.

The trim elements in the rear and front bumper, window frames, and exterior mirror housings are designed in high-gloss black. The tailpipe trim elements are also in black chrome. The AMG Carbon Fiber Package II contributes additional highlights with a spoiler lip and mirror caps on the trunk lid.

 From the side of the vehicle, the standard new 19-inch light-alloy wheels formed in an aerodynamically augmented five-twin-spoke design grabs the attention.

As for the exterior colors of the Coupe and Cabriolet, the newly available options include Brilliant Blue Magno and Graphite Grey Metallic, with the former exclusive for the AMG GT family.

The vehicle features the newest MBUX infotainment system, exquisite materials, and unique appointments.

The upholstered seats in MB-Tex feature Dinamica microfiber and AMG badging, red contrasting topstitching, and AMG-specific design as in the AMG 53-series models. It integrates comfort and strong lateral support with sport design for long travels. Other interior features are the trim elements in carbon fiber and red seat belts.

As for its AMG-enhanced 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder engine with electric auxiliary compressor, it demonstrates intelligent electrification and high performance as it produces a peak torque of 521Nm and output of 429hp.

The engine is combined with the AMG Speedshift TCT nine-speed transmission, which highlights double-declutching function with numerous downshifts, quicker response to change commands, and excessively short shift periods.

The AMG Spedshift TCT nine-speed transmission can be handled manually through the galvanized shift paddles. For more accurate shift commands, the paddles are larger and are positioned lower.

The EQ Boost starter-generator merges an alternator and a starter motor in a powerful electric motor and is situated between transmission and engine. It is a significant component of the 48V onboard electrical system, and it does not just cater to an alternator, but it also handles hybrid functions.

Two displays for the multimedia screen and instrument cluster combine underneath a shared glass cover to create the widescreen cockpit. Through the AMG menu, the driver can choose different displays like Racetimer, G-meter, set-up, gear speed indicator, and engine data.

Through the five Dynamic Select drive programs, namely, Individual, Sport+, Sport, Comfort, and Slippery, the performance of the new 53-series models can be highly influenced. The available selection goes beyond comfortable and efficient to sporty. The modes alter major parameters like steering, suspension, transmission, and engine response.

As for one of the distinct attributes of the new Mercedes-AMG E 53 Coupe and Cabriolet, the AMG Dynamics, this vehicle dynamics control system is incorporated into the AMG Dynamic Select drive programs. The control methods of the electronic stability program (ESP) or the all-wheel drive, for instance, is influenced by the basic, advanced, and pro levels. The AMG Dynamics functions can be directly chosen through the available AMG Drive Unit steering wheel buttons.
