Mercedes-Benz gifts ‘Faker’ personalized AMG SL 63 4MATIC+

MANILA: Mercedes-Benz has gifted League of Legends player Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok a personalized Mercedes-AMG SL 63 4MATIC+.

Faker’s bespoke ride was created by Mercedes-Benz’s personalization team Manufaktur. It has the South Korean’s signature on the headrest and the Hall of Legends lettering on the floor mats.

“Our long-standing, wonderful partnership with Riot Games enables us to create extraordinary moments for the esports community. The Mercedes‑AMG SL 63 Roadster, personalized by hand in honor of Faker, embodies both top performance and uniqueness. Both attributes perfectly match Faker’s style of play,” Mercedes-Benz Communications and Marketing Vice President Bettina Fetzer said.

The Mercedes-AMG SL 63 4MATIC+ is equipped with an AMG 4.0-liter V8 bi-turbo engine with an AMG Electric Drive Unit. It is mated to an AMG SpeedShift MCT 9G and produces 804 horsepower with 1,420 Newton-meters of torque.

It sends the roadster from a standstill to 100 kilometers per hour (kph) in 2.9 seconds and is electronically limited to reach speeds of 317 kph.

Further, Mercedes-Benz and League of Legends publisher Riot Games launched a Hall of Fame, where Faker is the first inductee. Aside from his custom ride, Faker also received an artwork — made in partnership with a renowned design studio — which shows his hometown of Seoul next to the vehicle in an art style synonymous with the League of Legends brand.

Since 2020, Mercedes-Benz has been the official automotive partner of all global League of Legends Esports events. It has become part of integral events such as Worlds and MSI.
