Mercedes-Benz in US presents upgrades and innovations across model range
MANILA: Mercedes-Benz USA takes a leap toward the 2021 model year with new SUV launches, innovations, and updates in terms of the technology and performance attributes of AMG performance models, along with a revised E-Class segment.
During the previous year, Mercedes-Benz upgraded its entire SUV portfolio. This involved the appearance of the first-ever compact GLB with an optional third row, and the presentation of the revised version of the best-selling midsize GLC.
The all-new GLA smoothly rounds up the portfolio as the athletic and appealing pathway to the refurbished Mercedes-Benz SUV family.
Though the GLA retains its compact SUV characteristic in a flexible city-sized package, the new generation shows a wider and taller appearance, and it also features a longer wheelbase compared to its predecessor.
The all-new GLA also boasts of greater cargo space, more rear legroom, and more front headroom than its predecessor.
Meanwhile, the GLA 35 is the newest entry of the Mercedes-AMG to the auto brand, blending excellent performance with high style in a flexible and sporty crossover package.
As for the AMG GLA 45, it is powered by the newly improved, hand-made M139 2.0-liter engine, the most powerful turbocharged four-cylinder engine generated for series production worldwide. The engine produces 480Nm of torque and 382hp.
In addition, the active, variable AMG Performance 4Matic+ all-wheel drive brings power to the rear axle selectively with the AMG Torque Control, which offers the reference for top traction in any circumstance.
Meanwhile, the new Mercedes-AMG GLE Coupe Models distinctively combine high functionality and thrilling performance with athletic design.
The GLE 53 Coupe, for instance, is powered by an AMG-enhanced 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder engine with an EQ Boost starter generator. Its advanced interior design includes the newest MBUX infotainment system, along with AMG-specific displays and functions.
On the other hand, the new AMG GLE 63 S Coupe is significantly enhanced with performance capabilities. It is powered by a hand-built AMG 4.0-liter V8 bi-turbo engine, which includes an electrified EQ Boost starter generator. The engine generates a remarkable power output of 603hp.
The new generation of AMG SUV coupes provides all the benefits of a Mercedes SUV, with super traction on different road conditions and surfaces, comprehensive safety technologies, and sufficient luggage and passenger space.
As for the Mercedes-AMG GLS 63 SUV and Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 S models, these vehicles are representations of the continuous modification of "intelligent performance."
The GLE 63 S is a clear definition of automotive sportiness since it has entered the successful GLE family as the muscular performance flagship vehicle from Mercedes-AMG.
On the other hand, the GLS 63 embodies the cornerstone of a large SUV with AMG Performance Luxury, a combination of the luxury of daily functionality and sufficient space with superior performance.
For both vehicles, the 4.0-liter V8 produces 603hp and 850Nm of torque. Such vehicles show intelligent performance with features such as AMG Cylinder Management and AMG Performance 4Matic+.
New inclusions on these vehicles like the new electronic rear differential, AMG active engine mounts, and active roll stabilization enable them to be more dynamic and agile than before.
The Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 4Matic signifies a new type of luxury in the SUV category. This is through the combination of the technical foundation and body design of the GLS with the luxury of a class-leading sedan.
Inside, all the seats of the Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 4Matic are ventilated, heated, electrically adjustable, and fitted with massage functions as standard.
Specifically, the rear compartment, with seats that are positioned further backward by 120mm compared to the Mercedes-Benz GLS, acts as both a private relaxation spot and an office.
The vehicle also features several of the newest-generation Mercedes-Benz driver assistance systems as standard. These include a 360-degree camera, active parking assistant with Parktronic, active blind spot assist with exit warning, active steering assist, and active distance assist Distronic with route-based speed adjustment.
The Maybach GLS 600 4MATIC is specifically driven by the discreet and powerful electrified variant of the V8 gasoline engine with a 48-volt on-board electrical system and EQ Boost Integrated Starter Generator (ISG), which offers effortless power. The engine generates a power output of 550hp and a torque of 729Nm. An additional 249Nm of torque and up to 21hp are temporarily available through the EQ Boost.
The new E-class segment continuously establishes the standard for intelligence within the Mercedes-Benz portfolio through its top levels of safety, luxury, and comfort.
The model range launches a revised, more dynamic configuration on the exterior and more technology and comfort in the interior. This makes the E-class the top-selling model series in Mercedes-Benz history.
The Mercedes-Benz E-Class All-Terrain, which is available for the first time in the US Market, flaunts an SUV-like character and design with its stylized skid plate, radiator grille, black matte body cladding, and increased height that flaunts a mirror chrome finish.
The extensively upgraded Mercedes-AMG E 53 S Wagon and Sedan also include a remarkable new design, more comfort, and enhanced aerodynamics.
In terms of expanded convenience features and safety innovations, the all-new Mercedes-Benz dashcam captures and saves the driver’s activities on the road in front of the vehicle, which includes speed and time.
The new steering wheel, on the other hand, has capacitive hands-off detection, which checks whether the hands are still on the wheel.
