Mercedes-Benz to bring eSprinter instead of EQV in PH?

MANILA: It seems that the supposed arrival of the Mercedes-Benz EQV to the Philippines would no longer push through as IC Star Automotive Incorporated might bring the the e-Sprinter instead of the electrified luxury people carrier.

Based on a tip shared to Zigwheels Philippines, the supposed change of plan was mainly due to the difference in their respective prices and that it would help the company tap those who are into customizing their vehicles.

A reliable source said that the eSprinter could join the local Mercedes-Benz lineup sometime within the first half of the year.

Currently Mercedes-Benz Philippines already has five EQ offerings under its roster. They are the Mercedes-Benz EQA 250 Electric Art; EQB 250 Electric Art; EQE 300 Electric Art; EQE 350+ AMG Line; and the EQS 450 4MATIC AMG.

While waiting for a confirmation from Mercedes-Benz Philippines of its arrival, here are some details of the electrified cargo van that is already available overseas — particularly the updated version launched for the North American market.

The new Mercedes-Benz eSprinter comes in rear-wheel-drive set-up and is offered in two permanent magnet synchronous motor options: the standard having a 100-kilowatt (kw) motor and the high-output version, a 150-kw mill.

The mill is powered by a battery with usable capacity of 113 kilowatt-hours that gives the vehicle a range of as much as 400 kilometers (based on World Harmonized Light Vehicle Test Procedure standards).

Being 7,112 millimeters long, the Mercedes-Benz eSprinter can provide a lot of room within its cabin as it has a 4,318-mm wheelbase and a cargo volume of nearly 14,000 liters.

In addition, the eSprinter in other markets is fitted with Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX) multimedia system with 10.25-inch screen, has smartphone integration options as well as a slew of technologies that include active brake assist, blind spot assist, and rear-view camera display.
