MG Motor UK reveals specs, pricing of all-electric MG4 hatch

MANILA: MG Motor UK has released more details on the all-new, highly anticipated MG4 EV, an all-electric hatchback designed to provide customers with space, technology, affordability, and driving quality.

The MG4 EV aims to provide UK customers with reliable, affordable zero-emissions vehicle. The MG4 EV will be available in three variants: SE Standard Range, SE Long Range, and Trophy Long Range.

The MG4 EV will feature a contemporary, striking new design language. With its 2,705mm wheelbase, it will offer outstanding interior, storage, and cargo space within its compact exterior dimensions.  Class-leading thin battery technology, at just 110mm in height, also increases rear boot capacity.

As the first model to use the innovative Modular Scalable Platform (MSP), the MG4 EV will set the standard for the next generation of all-electric MG models.

Due to its rear-wheel drive configuration, low center of gravity, and 50:50 weight distribution, the innovative platform will provide drivers with exceptional roadholding and engagement.

The MG4 EV Standard Range will have a WLTP cycle range of 218 miles, while the Long Range SE and Trophy Models will have ranges of 281 miles and 270 miles, respectively. The 64kWh battery has a charging capacity of 135kW, which translates to a charge time of only 35 minutes from 10% to 80% using a 150kW DC fast charger.

The MG4 EV will be equipped with a seven-inch driver display and a 10.25-inch floating infotainment screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.

The SE variants will come standard with the MG Pilot advanced driver assistance system, automatic LED headlights and rear lights, rear parking sensors, 17-inch alloy wheels, adaptive cruise control, automatic climate control, and MG iSmart app connectivity.

The SE Long Range variant will also feature MG's Active Grille Shutter System (AGS), which controls air flow based on vehicle requirements. This can extend EV range by up to 10% while increasing aerodynamic efficiency by up to 30%.

The Trophy variant will feature an upgraded MG Pilot System, which includes Blind Spot Detection (BSD), Lane Change Assist (LCA), and Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA). It will also come standard with a two-tone roof, rear privacy glass, twin aero rear spoiler, leather interior with an electric driver's seat, heated front seats, a 360-degree camera, wireless phone charging, a Bluetooth key, satellite navigation, and an upgraded MG iSmart system with live services.

The MG4 EV will be available in six colors: Arctic White, Holborn Blue, Black Pearl, Dynamic Red, Camden Grey, and Volcano Orange.

Price ranges for the SE Standard Range, SE Long Range, and Trophy Long Range start at £25,995, £28,495, and £31,495, respectively. Full specification will be revealed closer to the launch date in September.
