MIAS 2023: GAC launches Emkoo crossover and Empow GE sedan after posting record sales

MANILA: Local GAC distributor Astara Philippines launched the GAC Emkoo and Empow GE at MIAS 2023 after the company posted record sales of 228-percent in the first quarter of the year. 

“We continue to make headway with our plans since taking over the brand, driven by our line-up of vehicles that offer great value for money to our Filipino customers,” said Jun Cajayon, Brand Head of GAC Motor, Astara Philippines.

2023 GAC Emkoo

The brand’s compact crossover is distinguished by its “sharp feature lines, angular edges, and a dynamic stance,” GAC described. LED lights front and back accentuate the fastback shape of the 2023 GAC Emkoo.

 

As for in-car features, the GAC Emkoo comes with a 10.1-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay integration, power adjust settings and ventilation for front row seats, and configurable ambient lighting.

The GAC Emkoo is powered by a 1.5-liter turbo petrol engine generating 177 horsepower and 270 Nm of torque, paired with a quick-shifting, seven-speed wet Dual Clutch Transmission. The carmaker boasted that the motor “delivers a mileage of 16.1kpl, one of the lowest fuel consumption ratings among engines of the same displacement level.”

2023 GAC Emkoo Prices

The Emkoo will be offered in two variants, the GL and the entry-level GE, at the following special introductory price points:

• GAC 1.5L EMKOO GE - P1,413,000.
• GAC 1.5L EMKOO GL - P1,553,000.

2023 GAC Empow GE

First launched last January, the Empow is GAC’s entry to the compact sedan segment. The GAC Empow’s attractions included sleek styling and the promise of a thrilling driving experience. The GE is the model’s top-of-the-line variant.

Being the range-topper, the 2023 GAC Empow GE variant features 18-inch alloy wheels, paddle shifters, power folding mirrors, and a full suite of advanced driving assist systems and safety features. A Matte Fighter Green exterior paint finish is also exclusive to the GE variant.

“We’ve seen huge demand for the EMPOW among our customers since launching three months ago. With the arrival of the GE variant, customers can fully experience the performance advantage without compromise of this great-looking sedan at a price point that is well within reach,” added Cajayon.

GAC Philippines’ Q1 2023 Sales

The company announced at MIAS 2023 that its overall sales for the first quarter grew by 228% compared to the same period last year, marking a new record for the brand in the market. This growth was driven by demand for the Empow sedan, GS8 SUV, GS4 crossover, and GN6 MPV, the company said.

GAC Motor Philippines is offering an additional P20,000 discount on top of current promo offers on all vehicle reservations made at the MIAS or in any GAC dealership nationwide from April 13 to 16, 2023. Low-interest financing plans are also offered by the brand in partnership with Security Bank. Each vehicle purchased comes with a five-year warranty on parts and services.

Alongside the Emkoo and Empow GE, the GAC GS4, GN6, and GS8 will be showcased at MIAS 2023.
