MANILA: During the opening of the 18th Manila International Auto Show (MIAS), Hyundai Motor Philippines Inc., (HMPH) previewed the Hyundai Ioniq 6, a six-seater variant of the Stargazer, and other plans for the local market.
KEY TAKEAWAYS
What are the specs of the Hyundai Ioniq 6?
Charging-wise, it also supports both 400V and 800V which boosts battery life from 10% to 80% in just under 18 minutes. Once fully charged, an estimated range of up to 545 kilometers is enabled. When will the six-seater Hyundai Stargazer be available?
At the MIAS 2023, HMPH showcased what it calls a “premium” variant of the Hyundai Stargazer with six seats, in place of the standard MPV’s seven. HMPH said the six-seater Stargazer “will be coming out in (HMPH) authorized dealerships nationwide before the year ends, but is already open for pre-order during (MIAS 2023).”Hyundai’s Carbon Neutral Vision and the Ioniq 6
Electrification is Hyundai’s top priority in its Carbon Neutrality 2045 Agenda. Aside from pioneering green technologies, Hyundai aims to build clean mobility, and that is why the carmaker has spawned the Ioniq line of pure electric vehicles.
The Ioniq 5, already offering the Philippine market electric mobility, and the Ioniq 6, are part of the Hyundai EV family. Electric power — and a collection of awards — seems to be the only similarity between the two vehicles.
Hyundai’s press literature stated: “Both models share the same design DNA but have their own unique typology. ‘Sporty and sleek’ for the Ioniq 6 against ‘bold and space’ of the 5.”
The carmaker added: “The exterior shows off the brand’s signature 3D parametric pixel lights complimented by glass-like, transparent textures. Stepping inside, the cabin has been shaped like a cocoon for a cozier feeling.
Despite this, it manages to still be class-leading in terms of passenger comfort and cargo space because of its long wheelbase. At the driver seat, mindful, interactive features have been incorporated through the integrated digital cluster and infotainment screen and action-sensitive ambient lights.”
Following the footsteps of its stablemate, the Ioniq 6 recently claimed the 2023 World Car Design of The Year, 2023 World Electric Vehicle of the Year and the coveted 2023 World Car of The Year. The vehicle has been prized for its “streamlined silhouette combined with outstanding EV performance.”
Hyundai Ioniq 6 Specifications
Built on the brand’s trademark Electric-Global Modular Platform or E-GMP, the Hyundai Ioniq 6 ensures stability. Charging-wise, it also supports both 400V and 800V which boosts battery life from 10% to 80% in just under 18 minutes. Once fully charged, an estimated range of up to 545 kilometers is enabled.
Thanks to the car’s “upgraded battery capacity” and a slippery shape, the EV sprints from standstill to 100kph in 5.1 seconds and to a top speed of 185kph.
The EV is also equipped with a raft of safety equipment including Navigation-based Smart Cruise Control (NSCC), Highway Driving Assist 2 (HDA 2), Remote Smart Parking Assist 2 (RSPA 2), among others.
Hyundai Ioniq 6 Philippine-market Prices
Per HMPH, the Ioniq 6 is set to be officially launched towards the middle of the year for around P4,000,000.
As predicted, the price commands a premium over the P3 to P3.7-million of the Ioniq 5. This vehicle in particular is being offered with a five-year or 200,000-km vehicle warranty, eight-year or 160,000-km battery warranty, and free Preventive Maintenance Service (PMS) for five years or 75,000-km, whichever comes first. The installation of a 7.4KWh AC wall charger also comes standard with every purchase.
In an effort to assist owners, HMPH will soon launch a Vehicle-to-Vehicle or V2V Service in which the Ioniq 5 will be utilized for mobile charging. Should their Hyundai EV run out of charge, Filipino customers in the NCR can call the carmaker for an emergency vehicle that will provide about 20 to 30 kilometers of extra range.
Hyundai Stargazer Variant
At the MIAS 2023, HMPH showcased what it calls a “premium” variant of the Hyundai Stargazer with six seats, in place of the standard MPV’s seven. HMPH said the six-seater Stargazer “will be coming out in (HMPH) authorized dealerships nationwide before the year ends, but is already open for pre-order during (MIAS 2023).”
Hyundai Philippines Outlet and Product Expansion
With regards to new models and HMPH dealerships, Cecil Capacete, Managing Director of HMPH, said: “In 2023, one of our main objectives is to increase our customer satisfaction index.
We shall do so by providing existing and new Hyundai owners the after sales care and expertise they deserve. Then, continue expanding our reach by growing our network to 45 outlets and further strengthening our product lineup”.
Hyundai Philippines at MIAS 2023
Throughout MIAS 2023, interested customers can test drive Hyundai’s latest models. Over at the carmaker’s MIAS booth, visitors can receive an ice cream from a bar powered by a Hyundai Ioniq 5.
