Mitsubishi Xpander is the top-selling MPV in the Philippines

MANILA: While it was Toyota who topped many sales charts in the country, the MPV segment was lead by some other manufacturer. You must’ve already guessed it from the title of the story, right? And yes,

it was the Mitsubishi Xpander which delivered best performed in the MPV segment in the Philippine market in 2018. According to reports from the Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC), 13,502 units of the Japanese MPV got homes in 2018. What makes this achievement even richer is the fact that the Xpander managed to outperform all the other players in less than ten months, for which it was on sale last year.

The tremendous performance by the Xpander in the Philippine market took the total sales of MMPC to 67,512. With these trades, the Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation managed to grab 18.89 % of the automobile market in the country. However,

TRAIN law and the discontinuation of vehicles like the L300 and Adventure brought the overall sales graph of the manufacturer down. Other cars like the Mirage G4 and Strada managed to accumulate 14,810 and 4,561 sales, respectively. MMPC believes that the company will definitely perform better in 2019.

Mr. Taichi Nakajima, the Executive Vice President of MMPC said, “With the strong supply and demand of the Xpander and with the introduction of the new Strada, we look forward to a more progressive year”.

He also cited that the new 2019 Strada should be very well received and the pickup should go on to improve the sales figures. Upgraded models and better aftersales service should also benefit the manufacturer in the coming times.
