Mitsubishi Xpander - Key highlights

Mitsubishi Xpander is a 7-seater MPV which was launched in the Philippines in 2018. It was successful in creating the kind of buzz and hype, even before its launch, that the company was looking for. Features like radical design, large dimensions, great interior space, etc., helped the Xpander to create a space of its own in the 7-seater MPV segment and gave a reason for the other brands to worry.

Since its launch, the Xpander has been sold in good numbers and is expected to continue to move in the same direction. It’s available in four trims starting at Php 999,000.

Now with the price and variants aside, let’s talk about the Xpander’s key highlights.

Sleek LED DRLs

One of the exterior highlights that set the Xpander out of the crowd has to be its sleek LED daytime running lights. They have a very sharp design and contribute to the MPV’s aggressive front look.

Front grille

Bridging the gap between the LED DRLs is the flushed grille that bears the brand’s logo in the middle. We find the design of the grille to be quite different and it goes well with the overall front fascia of the MPV.

Bumper-embedded headlights

This is an unusual spot to place the headlights but it does attract a lot of attention and hence the purpose is served. Along with imparting good looks to the MPV, these headlights are also capable of lighting up the dark pretty well.

Sporty front bumper

While the headlights take a decent amount of space in the front bumper, Mitsubishi has done a good job in making sure the rest of it looks sporty. It also has a couple of fog lights located at the bottom that enhance the overall appearance.

Dual-tone alloy wheels

The design of the dual-tone alloy wheels is quite attractive. No wonder they contribute so much in making the Xpander look sporty from the side. However, considering the large dimensions of the MPV, the size of the alloy wheels (15-in and 16-in) feel to be slightly smaller. Don’t you think so? Also, the huge wheel arches just make things even worse.

Sporty LED taillights

To complete the sporty look at the rear of the Xpander, there is a pair of combination LED taillights. They feature some signature styling and look brilliant.

Interior space

Now coming to the interior of the Xpander, the first thing that we would like to mention is the sheer cabin space. There’s plenty of room available for the second-row passengers. While the Xpander is a 7-seater, the last row of seats should be left for kids only.

Power outlets

Mitsubishi has taken care of the needs of all the passengers in the Xpander. It has provided power outlets in all the 3 rows so that your beloved handheld devices don’t run out of power.

Front passenger seat undertray

We are quite impressed with Mitsubishi’s space management. To fully utilise the available space, there’s a clever undertray in the front passenger seat. So it can be used to store some items, let’s say shoes.

Engine

Powering all the four variants is the same 1.5-litre engine that churns out 105 PS of power and 141 Nm of torque. It has a good power delivery, nothing too abrupt, which suits the character of the MPV. The refinement level is also quite good.
