New HR-V to join Honda Cars PH's hybrid roster

MANILA: Honda Cars Philippines Incorporated (HCPI) will expand its hybrid stable locally soon after it previewed the new HR-V.

The latest offering will be priced at P1.6-P1.9 million.The model’s upcoming iteration is expected to continue the market’s appreciation on the nameplate, which HCPI shared has 10,216 sold units locally as of 2024. To note, the Honda HR-V started competing in the country’s subcompact crossover arena in 2015.

The new Honda HR-V features aesthetic, powertrain, and technological updates that make it more upscale than ever.
Here are the notable details about the newly-revealed model.
Specifications
Exterior
Since it is just a refreshed offering, the new Honda HR-V still measures 4,385 millimeters (mm) long; 1,790 mm wide; and 1,590 mm tall — with a 2,610-mm wheelbase, 196-mm ground clearance, and 40-liter tank capacity.

Its front fascia gets a smaller but similarly-designed grille with a blue H badge sitting in the middle for the top-of-the-line variant.
In addition, it also comes with 17- or 18-inch wheels (depending on the trim) and has a new body color option called "Sand Khaki."
Interior
The new HR-V’s cabin features a familiar look that is not short on convenience amenities namely the electronically-adjustable driver seat (for the middle and top-of-the-line variants) and floating infotainment system.

Aside from that, the new offering now comes equipped with a wireless charging dock (for the mid-and top-tier variations).
To ensure the model's versatility, the model’s crème dela crème variant also adopted the ULT (Utility, Long, and Tall Mode) seats.
Powertrain
Propelling the new Honda HR-V’s top-tier is a port-injected, four-cylinder, Atkinson cycle, double overhead cam, intelligent variable valve timing and lift electronic control, 1.5-liter gasoline engine with two electric motors and an electronically-controlled continuously variable transmission. The powertrain combination — also known as the e:HEV system — allows the vehicle to do 23.2 kilometers per liter (based on Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicle Test Procedure standards).
The internal combustion engine can deliver up to 104 horsepower (hp) and 127 Newton-Newton-meters (Nm) of torque while the electric mills, 129 hp and 253 Nm.
The motor is mated to an intelligent power unit made up of 60 lithium-ion battery cells.
The new Honda HR-V also has three drive system options namely the following:
- EV: full electric set-up
- Hybrid: generating electricity using the gasoline engine
- Engine: pure internal combustion operation
Technologies
The myriad of the new technological features made the new Honda HR-V more loaded than the previous version.
It now has dual-zone air-conditioning system, rear parking sensors, and rain-sensing wipers.

The vehicle boasts the Honda Connect system that allows its users to remotely do the following:
- Adjust climate inside the cabin
- Turn on and off the head- and tail lamps
- Lock/unlock the car
- Automatic collision detection
Further, the technologies other features include:
- Visual dashboard
- Location finder
- Trip log and history
- Geofencing alert
- Push notification
- Speed alert
- Car status
- Emergency call
Lastly, Honda kept the Honda Sensing suite of technologies in the new HR-V as standard, maintaining safety features such as:

- Lane keep assist with lane departure warning
- Auto high beam
- Lead car departure notification
Pricing, availability
To be offered in three trims namely S, V, and RS, the new Honda HR-V will carry price tags that will range between P1.6 and P1.9 million.
HCPI will begin the model’s pre-selling tomorrow.
