New S trim for Bentley Continental GT and GTC geared toward driving pleasure
MANILA: Bentley adds contrast and depth to its Continental GT family with the arrival of the new S range, emphasizing driving performance and aesthetics. Through numerous upgrades on the exterior design, interior specification, and dynamic system, the new S range changes the Bentley grand touring formula to focus on the pleasure of driving — a contrasting but complementary emphasis to the "Wellbeing behind the Wheel" concept of the recent, comfort-focused Azure range launch.
KEY TAKEAWAYS
What is the difference between the S range and the Azure range?
The S range focuses on dynamic performance and visual presence, while the Azure range puts emphasis on onboard comfort and wellbeing. What makes the S range's V8 engine different from other Continental GT models'?
The V8 engine of the GT and GTC S is enhanced by the standard installation of a Sports Exhaust that amplifies the crossplane V8 beat.Bentley two-door owners have always enjoyed the range of options available, from the majestic performance of the 6.0-liter W12 Continental GT Speed to the unmistakable beat of the 4.0-liter Continental GT V8. Owners can now opt to accentuate the athletic nature of the 4.0-liter V8-powered Bentley Continental GT with the introduction of the Continental GT and GTC S.
The 542bhp, 770Nm, 4.0-liter V8 engine that has been tremendously popular across the world, delivering a time of just 4.0 seconds for 100 kph, is still available in the new S range. The engine of the GT and GTC S is strengthened by the standard installation of a Sports Exhaust that amplifies the crossplane V8 rhythm.
The Continental GT S models have a dynamic attitude, thanks to the eager, free-revving and lightweight V8 engine, which is enhanced by the Bentley Dynamic Ride, Bentley's innovative 48V electric active anti-roll control system. By producing up to 1,300Nm in 0.3 seconds, motors within the anti-roll bars automatically adjust for cornering forces to reduce body roll under intense cornering, while also improving ride comfort at cruising speeds by disconnecting the left and right wheels from each other.
The new S models create an instant and dramatic impact, from the black gloss radiator grille and black brightware to the signature S badging on the front fenders. Headlamps and rear lights are dark tinted, and all exterior brightware are gloss black. Only the winged Bentley logo and lettering are finished in bright chrome. The gloss black wing complements the darker exterior. These features have a dramatic effect, giving the GT and GT S a more commanding presence regardless of the wide range of exterior colors available.
The S range has a new 22-inc- wheel option, with five Y-shaped spokes finished in gloss black and a new Pale Brodgar Satin finish. Red-painted brake calipers give the perfect athletic contrast.
Another wheel option for S models is a 21-inch tri-spoke wheel with gloss black and bright machined finishes.
The exterior also features S badging on the front fenders, quad exhaust tailpipes, and black sill extenders as seen on the Continental GT Speed.
A spectacular and performance-focused interior matches the aggressive and purposeful exterior design, with a two-tone color split exclusive to the S models.
In the early days of Bentley, competitors at Brooklands and Le Mans would wrap steering wheels in cord for more cushioning and firmer grip. Today's sporting Bentley drivers are better suited, with the suede-like qualities of Dinamica proven perfect for the Continental GT and GTC S steering wheel, gear lever, seat cushion, and seat backrest. The seat bolsters, door pads, instrument panel, and console are all covered in leather hide. Dinamica is combined with Bentley's top-notch leather to create an interior that delivers a sensory contrast between smooth hide and soft napped finish.
The driver instrumentation keeps the sporting theme with the same performance-focused graphics as the Continental GT Speed. The S design seats are fluted, with quilting as an option, and the "S" insignia is embroidered on each seat's headrest; embroidered Bentley wings are a no-cost option. Among the finishing touches are the metal S signature logo on the fascia and illuminated Bentley treadplates with the "S" device replacing the Bentley Motors Ltd plaque.
The Continental GT S and Continental GTC S cater to all individuals who enjoy aggressive, extroverted performance cars because of their distinctive design, performance, and responsiveness. Bentley has made it easier for customers to choose the focus of their Bentley with the recent launch of the wellness-focused Azure range alongside the S models. Customers can choose between onboard comfort and wellbeing with Azure, or dynamic performance and visual presence with the S and Speed options.
