Nissan Expands recall of Altimas & Maximas to Fix Fuel-line defect
MANILA: Nissan Motor Co. Initiated a sedan recall for fixing a fuel-line defect that could lead to fuel leaks and fire. The problem has been found in 47,000 Altimas ans Maxima's that created leakage problem during crashes. The problem is kept on the priority list as the company is concerned about the safety of its costumers.
According to a report filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the company is set to recall about 28,198 Altimas from the 2013-16 model years and 18,648 2916 model Maximas. Nissan revealed that the cars were improperly installed with a O-ring that leads to fuel leakage and fire during a crash.
However, the company assured that the authorized dealerships will install a retainer ring replacing the O-ring between the fuel tank and fuel-transfer unit and this will be done free of cost after contacted the customers.
Since the recall of 5,500 Maximas of 2016 model year began in July'15 while Nissan expanded the recall scheduled on Oct. 14.
