Nissan Philippines Recalls 6 Models Over Takata Airbags Issue
MANILA: Seems like Takata airbags and recalls are the newest synonyms. If you scroll down or search for all the recent recalls made by different automakers irrespective of the geographies, you would find the respective auto brands blaming faulty Takata airbags as the reason for recalls in majority of the cases. Well, this time it’s Nissan which has to issue a recall notice over the same for 6 models from its fleet. Though, the notice is preventive and no fatal injuries have been registered so far, the Japanese automaker has asked the customers to treat this notice as urgent to ensure best of the safety in Nissan cars.
It should be noted that some renowned auto brands including Mazda, Toyota and Nissan have already broken the professional tie up with Takata over quality issues in its airbags in November last year and have decided not to use the supplies. But then, these automakers have decided to identify the drives which already have sub-standard airbags and rectify the issues and in this respect, Nissan Philippines is the next. Just a couple of days ago, Honda along with its luxury division Acura also issued a recall over same problem. Also, Toyota has recalled over 3.37 million cars worldwide over faulty airbags and emission control system units; where it is a sigh of relief for Takata as the company has rejected any involvement of the now infamous airbags supplier.
Coming back to Nissan Philippines, the company has identified 6 of its undernoted models with respective years to have the sub-standard Takata airbags which can prove to be fatal for the occupants rather than life-saver -
If you are having any of the above mentioned models, you might receive a notice from the Japanese manufacturer soon for a quick fix program. Nissan Philippines has advised the customers of these vehicles to contact the Nissan Customer Assistance Centre (NCAC) pro-actively through its hotline 403-65-93. If you find yourselves among the owners of these drives, you can also contact the nearest Nissan dealership for the remedial.
Takata has proved to be a repetitive defaulter by providing faulty airbags to its clients and seems like Nissan Philippines has decided to rectify the problem at war front.
