Peugeot Showcases Its Portfolio at MIAS 2016

MANILA: A decade ago, Peugeot was long stuck in a rut of dreary boxes, which managed to demolish company's sales charts in the international as well as domestic markets. But the last 5 years have seen multiple facelifts and new launches from the French car maker, which have managed to entice customers to step into the company's bandwagon. The Philippine market though hasn't shown any significant appreciation of Peugeot's product range. In order to turn this market philosophy, the automaker has showcased its entire available portfolio at the ongoing 2016 Manila International Auto Show, which has opened its gates for the media today, while the public will be able to visit the expo at World Trade Centre in Manila from today till the 10th of April.

308 GTI side profle

The main highlight of the Peugeot's booth is the new 308 GTI hatch. This high-performance avatar of the stock 308 hatch. But the GTI badge brings in it a potent powertrain, that consists of a 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol that exhales a heart wrenching 266 hp, while the peak torque is rated at a whopping 240 Nm. Mated to a six-speed manual gearbox, this powertrain is often termed as an enthusiast paradise. It remains to be seen when Peugeot Philippines will be launching the 308 GTI in the country.

Other products being showcased at MIAS 2016 include the company's best-selling car in the country, the 301 sedan, along with its elder sibling the 508 sedan. Estates too have been a vital part of the automaker's Philippine portfolio, including the 2008, 3008 and 5008.

The French manufacturer has always been developing high-performance cars that can be used as a daily commuter as well. In the Philippines too, Peugeot currently sells the 208 GTI and the RCZ coupe, which are the perfect purchase options for petrolheads of the country. And now with the 308 GTI too coming, enthusiasts are bound to be spoiled for choice for deciding their perfect next car.
