Recently Acquired Polester to Operate Autonomously Under Volvo Cars
MANILA: Volvo acquired the Polestar and handed it over to the racing team to operate as an independent entity under Volvo Cars. Hakan Samuelsson, Volvo President, says “We want to preserve Polestar's racing legacy while strengthening its market presence.”
Samuelsson added, “I am keen for Polestar to remain as entrepreneurial as possible. We want Polestar to build on its racing heritage and strengthen its brand by pushing the limits in terms of engineering and technology. The best way to achieve this was for it to work as an independent unit.”
By applying this strategy, Polestar can work autonomously under Volvo cars and will still have their own management team, research and development, and marketing with product strategy. Meanwhile, Polestar will be free to continue its motorsport activity in the 2016 Scandinavian Touring Car Championship.
